The Glistening Isle
The naturally improbable island in the middle of the Blacktide Bay where Geradine, the capital of the Zapis Kingdom sits.
Roughly 200 miles across and 100 miles North to South, the Glistening Isle is a massive stretch of land that rises dramatically, far above the waters of the Blacktide Bay. The island sits atop sheer cliffs, rising roughly 2000 feet out of the waters of the bay on all sides. Because of this, the city is reliant on an intricate systems of cranes and nets built into the walls of the cliffs to bring goods from the bay-side docks up to the city proper.
Around the base of the island can be found the floating city of The Ark, which serves dual purpose as the docks of Geradine and the slums of city, providing homes for the poorer and seedier members of the kingdom.
The top of the island is relatively flat and grass covered (at least where it isn't city-covered). It is easily the most fertile land in the Zapis Kingdom, and a large portion of the western side of the island has been allocated for farmland and livestock.
Geography
Because of it's exposed nature and high-altitude, the top of the Glistening Isle is subject to constant wind from the seaside side of the island. Occasionally during stormy weather these winds can reach to almost hurricane levels.
