Lewis Paxton
Summary:
Lewis Paxton is the Guild representative of Alderweld. He currently has conflict with Riya, as he blames her family for his two greatest failures (not undeservedly) and subsequent demotions within the Guild. Riya was in effect an indentured servant to Paxton working to pay off the 4,000GP that her family owed him. At the start of the adventure Riya had only successfully worked off 1,000GP over a period of 12 years. The low rate was due to her low pay, and the fact that room & board was deducted from the amount that could be applied to the debt.Encounters with the party:
#1:Paxton first encountered the party immediately after their successful supply run to Hoen. He was waiting outside of the guardhouse after Riya's release, and immediately attempted to capture her and have her placed back in prison. #2:
The second encounter came as the party attempted to infiltrate Paxton's mansion to recover the orb and coin that Riya had stashed there. Riya was caught in the act, but was able to intrigue Paxton by offering the 1,000GP she had obtained as a bulk payment for her debt. Paxton agreed to not press charges on Riya for now, and extending her a one month deadline to acquire the remaining 2,000GP owed. Tully then proceeded to steal his boat. #3:
The latest encounter was after the party found Baxter Ardullian, a novice Guildsman from Hoen, bleeding out in the snow outside of Isenwold. The party brought Baxter to Paxton, who hired them to go find out what had happened to Hoen and resolve any outstanding issues. The offer was 10% of the remaining debt, so effectively 200GP. Paxton lent the part use of three of his horses, one of which Tully stabbed to death when it fell through the ice in the swamp.
