An epistem is, in essence, an information manager under contract for a corporate client to aid in a set project or series of technical tasks.

• Fluency in multiple programming languages and system architectures to adapt to various devices.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity practices to safeguard data integrity.
• Understanding current human etiquette, tone and cultural sensitivities.
• Adaptability in managing social dynamics between humans and machines.

Only digital beings can act as an epistem.
The selection process often involves rigorous vetting of their technical and ethical capabilities, alongside compatibility testing with the client’s existing systems and infrastructure. It is not considered a desirous job.
Though, there are freelancers who would do one-off work provided they remain connected

within the digital landscape. Those who might take a full contract are either trying to leave Test Theatre or have some agenda in the physical world.

A secure, encrypted hub capable of multi-channel communication for the consciousness to reside safely and prevent unauthorized access.
Such a system is typically mandated by the client for fear that the epistem will leave their post due to the relativistic time from the Theater.

Frequently, however, past epistems would either be forgotten or purposefully confined in place as a nameless algorithm performing tasks in perpetuity.
