Panthea

Panthea is a vast, flat world. It is shaped like a huge table mountain, with cliffs tens of thousands of kms tall. It has an immense surface area of roughly 250 billion square km, with innumerable continents, oceans, seas, islands, civilizations, and species living on it's. It is a vast world, but it is just an island in an ocean of other islands, and this ocean is the the universe.
The known world
As you can see the world is divided into ring like shapes, with the Midlands being in the middle. The rings divided the layers of the world are made up of tall frozen mountains. Between the rings of mountain there are warmer, and home to many civilizations.   The area shown on this map is roughly 14,400,000,000 square km.
In the Middle of the world there is a ring of continents called the Southern Continents, and within these continents there is a region called the midlands. The midlands has the same area as earth. In the center is frozen the north pole, at the edge of the midlands is the south pole equivalent, and there is a hot equator between them. The midlands is home to some of the world's strongest and most advanced nations, such as the Merindian Empire, the New Shorian Empire, Regius, and the Shenrian Empire.

The Midlands

The Southern Continents, the frozen ring of continents that divides the midlands from the outlands is made up of 7 continents covered in glaciers and huge mountains. Between these continents there are large straits that connect the midlands oceans and the outlands oceans. These straits are almost completely impossible to navigate with sea ships. This was bypassed 270 years ago, in the year 610 when the first explorers used drakkeon Airships to fly to the outlands. Ever since then, the midlands empires have been racing to explore and colonize the outlands, although they have only explored roughly 1% of the outlands.   The Midlands has several continents. There is the largest, Sundra and there's Lenuria and the island continent of Meru. The Southern Continents are made up of 7 continents, these are Drakka, Enska, Omnora, Voysov, Skall, Glacius, and Meridum.

The Outlands

Beyond the ring of continents at the southern edge of the midlands is the outlands. The outlands has the same north/south pole distance, with a hot equator. However, the outlands circles around the midlands. The outlands is divided into layers, each of which being the same thickness, but being wider as they encircle the previous layer. There are about 25 layers to the outlands in total, but so far only the first one has been significantly explored by the midlands empires. Between each layer of the outlands there are rings of continents similar to the Southern Continents.   The first layer of the midlands, the only substantially explored one has many continents on it. There is Panagon, the huge dinosaur covered continent. There's Derrenia, the tamest place in the midlands, Surthur, the volcanic continent, Vaalbora, the humid arthropod covered continent, Solum, the huge desert continent, and Cratonia, the purple continent. There are also several other continents in the first layer of the outlands.

The Edge of Panthea

Panthea is an extremely vast world, but it does end eventually. The edge of the world is cut off by astronomically huge cliffs, at the bottom of which is the great primordial ocean, an ocean that divides the worlds and is bigger than every world combined. The only explorer who ever reached the edge of Panthea was a Merindian who reached the edge in 875. He reported to be able to hear the crashing waves of the primordial ocean in the distance, describing it as the most immense crashing sound imaginable, and he even was able to observe the waves directly. The immense size of these waves was astonishingly massive, and it's waves were reported to be tens of thousands of kms high. These waves however never came near crashing over the edge of Panthea and flooding it.

Wildlife

Panthea is extremely biodiverse. Out of all the species that ever lived on earth, there are at least as many still alive on Panthea at the same time, just spread out across it's extremely vast surface. Within the midlands there are a huge amount of land animals and within the oceans are vast ocean animals. The land animals in the midlands are like ice-age animals, except there are more large species spread across all of the continents. These can be tiny to extremely large. There are giant snakes up to 200 feet long, dragons, many species of mammoths and woolly rhinos, sabertooths, and numerous other great beasts.   The outlands is even more diverse. There are more contients there and they are more spread out often, which leads to massive biodiversity. There are dinosaurs, pterosaurs, giant bugs, strange mammals, and many many more.

History

Panthea has a long history that goes back tens of millions of years, and it is a world that has gone through immense change over the millennia.

The Pre-Titan Age (-??? to -62,000,000)

Unnumbered millions of years ago, Panthea was a chaotic place, liquids, solids, and gases all mixed together and broke apart with no purpose or order. The world was like this for an unknown length of time until the Elder Titans appeared. The Elder Titans found Panthea as a chaotic plane of madness, so they set out to bring order to the chaos. The Elder Titans first created the earth out of solid matter, then the oceans out of the liquid, and finally the air with the gasses. For thousands of years after this was complete, the Elder Titans simply resided of their newly created world, but eventually they came up with the concept of life. Life began 80,000,000 years ago when the elder titans created the first plants and animals. The first plants were trees, known as the primordial trees. They were as thick as mountains, with their branches reaching far beyond the mountains and clouds, further into the sky than anything else had ever gone. Then the first animals were also created. These animals were immense beings, dozens of kilometres in length and covered in hard, scaly skin. This life diversified for around 10,000,000 years, and formed a fully functional ecosystem.

The Primordial Age (-62,000,000 to -30,000,000)

After the world had been ordered and gifted with life, the Elder Titans wanted to create a special race of being in their image and they created the first titans. These firstborn titans are known as the primordials. The primordials possessed human level intelligence but also possessed immense size and strength. They roughly resembled muscular humans, but stood at an awe-inspiring height of around 1000 feet (304.8 m). The hypothesized origin of the primordials is within the unexplored center of Tandonia, and some believe the ruins of a primordial titan city is there. From this origin point, the primordials migrated out and in about 6,000,000 years had settled every part of Panthea.   When the primordial titans settled the world, they began creating massive stone cities. These cities were made out of colossal stones, and each building was as large as a mountain. The settled primordials eventually became very territorial, divided themselves into kingdoms and went to war on each other. This era began about 56,000,000 years ago and ended about 30,000,000 years ago. In this age there was extremely slow technological development, although metalworking, agriculture, and animal husbandry was invented. Another great discovery was made during this era, magic Magic, which began to be heavily utilized by the primordials, they were able to harness immense amounts of power from their minds and bodies, and used this power to devastating affect.   Eventually the primordial's magic became so great that they even believed themselves mighty enough to challenge the Elder Titans themselves. The primordials, driven mad by their power declared war on the Elder Titans in an attempt to steal their power and become gods. This war waged for several years, and ended up killing all of the great life of the primordial age. The great beasts which once roamed the earth, and the legendary forests of primordial trees were felled, never to return again. The Elder Titans won the war, although it cost them dearly, with 3/4ths of all Elder Titans dying, but the primordials were defeated, and the remaining Elder Titans decided that they were too dangerous to live and tried to wipe them all out. This almost worked, but several thousand primordials escaped the slaughter and hid in the deepest/most remote places in the world, never to be seen again. A few primordials were spared, these were the ones who decided not to partake in the war or who joined the side of the Elder Titans. These Primordials were transformed into the first titans.

The Age of Titans (-30,000,000 to -120,000)

The age of titans began roughly 64,000,000 years ago and ended 120,000 years ago. The age of titans is the longest and most prosperous era in Panthea's history, and is characterized by the existence of the titans. The titans were 15 foot (4.5 m) tall people who had extremely strong bodies, incredibly intelligent minds, and a strong affinity for magic. The titans, unlike the primordials, were wise. The titans didn't divide themselves into separate states and believed it to be their duty to protect the world and all life, although at the point where they had just been created all life was devastated by the war that had doomed the primordials.   The titans were created by the Elder Titans. The elder titans wanted to recreate life in Panthea, but wanted to make it more complex, dense and smaller. Since they didn't think that they would be able to maintain all life on their own, they created the titans to maintain life for them. The titan race's origin is believed to be the north pole of the midlands, and then they migrated out to the rest of Panthea in just a few hundred years.   At the beginning of the age of titans the world was devoid of life which had all previously been wiped out by the war at the end of the primordial age. The titans, with the help of the Elder Titans created the biomes and ecoystems of the world, and the first plants and animals. They let the plants and animals experience rapid evolution, where they would adapt to the new environments created in just a few hundred years. After this process had ended all of the land animals and ocean animals came into being. Then the titans created countless cities, machines, and structures to maintain their newly made life and protect it, and powerful machines to help maintain and defend them. These machines still defend the now abandoned structures to this very day. They built up many ways for the ecosystem to thrive without them, and they ended up creating such a strong system that they ensured that life could continue to thrive even if the titans weren't there, and if an apocalyptic scenario occurred life could bounce back and continue to thrive. The titans dedicated their existence to conserving life on the world, and none of their structures harmed any of the plants and animals in the world, but tended to it, for example, the Titan cities were built mostly underground so as not to nterfere with life on the surface.   Titan life went on this way for millions of years until 120,000 years ago a mysterious event wiped out all titans. Miraculously their cities, machines and structures all remained intact despite their absence, and continued to maintain life until this very day. Little is known about what killed off the titans, but what is known is that the titans who survived the event gave birth to all of the intelligent races that exist today. Even though the titans are long gone for the most part, their legacy lives on forever, and their former wisdom and strength still guides the world even long after their passing in the form of the many beautiful and awe-inspiring plants and animals that inhabit the world, all intelligent races in the world, and the many beautiful ruins they left behind.
