Meru

Meru is the country that rules the island of Meru, as well as some islands south of it. Meru is a seafaring nation, they have always focused on the sea because they live on a large island without anyone else it so they had to sail for trade.

International Relations

Meru is in a very close alliance with the New Shorian Empire (NSE), as much of Meru is ethnically Shorian and all of Meru is former Shorian land. There is a large group of people who want to re-join the Shorian Empire, and there are also the people who want to remain a sovereign state. This disagreement has divided the country, with huge amounts of supporters on both sides.

Industry

Meru is primarily a maritime-based nation. They excel is ship production and fishing, and they have an extremely advanced and powerful navy and also air force, and they possess a large amount of submarines and aircraft carriers.

Meru has around 350,000 ground troops, 650 tanks, 1,500 other armoured fighting vehicles, and thousands of artillery pieces.

Navy

Meru's main strength is their ocean navy, and have a very large and powerful fleet. The have 11 battleships, 7 aircraft carriers, 55 cruisers, 122 destroyers, and 253 submarines.

Air Force

Meru has a strong air force as well, and they recognize the power of aircraft in naval engagements. Meru has around 3,500 airplanes. They have around 2,100 fighters, all of which are able to land on and take off from aircraft carriers, both ocean and sky based, and they have 1,400 bombers.
The airship fleet of Meru is moderately sized, they have around 65 small airship which they use to hunt and destroy submarines, and around 15 heavy troop transport airships, which are around 600 feet (183 m) long. They also have 3 heavy air battleships which are around 950 feet (289.5 m) long and can shell most targets from the air, provide anti-air guns, serve as a superheavy bomber, and they are capable of engaging other large airships in direct combat.
