Skall

Skall is an extremely cold and desolate Southern Continent.

Climate

Skall is entirely freezing cold and very windy and is on average -45°C. Skall is also extremely dry as almost all of the liquid water on the continent is frozen in massive ancient glaciers that cover the continent.

Geography

Skall, like every other Southern Continent has a long, straight but bent shape, and has a huge mountain range running down the center. Skall has around 77% of it's surface covered in glaciers, which are in turn covered in snow. Between some of the glaciers there are areas known as dry valleys. Dry valleys are ice-free valleys which are completely devoid of all plant or animal life, and are seen as the absolute extreme of desolation in the world. The coastlines of skall have some ice-free areas as well. These areas host large colonies of seabirds and marine mammals, but no permanent land animals.

Plants and Animals

Skall is an extremely hostile environment. All of the large animals except for one are seabirds, penguins, and marine mammals like seals. The largest seabird being the southern ocean hallon, and the largest seal being the Mammoth Seal. Further inland there is virtually no life. The only fungus/plant life that exists on the continent are lichens and very small grasses.
The only large land animal that lives on Skall is the frost ape, an elusive white ape that roams the endless wastes looking for mosses and lichens to scrape off of rocks to eat.
