primordial tree

Primordial trees were massive trees that stood during the primordial era (-62,000,000 to -30,000,000). Primordial trees are known to have existed because of two major pieces of evidence. The first piece of evidence is their stumps, which are all sawed off and form many of the tabletop mountains we know today, and their root systems, which form huge tunnels that go deep into the the underworld. The other major piece of evidence is the Primordial leaf, a colossal leaf which was found in 878 in the form of a massive leaf which could not have existed on any other tree. The primordial leaf was found to have only been removed from it's tree 8 years before it's discovery, providing strong evidence that primordial trees may still exist in the most remote reaches of Panthea.

Size and Shape

The size of Primordial trees was absolutely unimaginable. They are hypothesized to have stood as high as 200 kilometers at their maximum size, although their usual size was about 80 kilometers. Primordial trees are believed to have resembled incomprehensibly large redwood trees, it's branches began roughly half way up the tree, spread far out, and it had broad leaves.

Extinction

Primordial trees existed for 32,000,000 years, and were possibly the most successful species of plant ever to exist, however they went extinct 30,000,000 years ago. The cause of the primordial tree's extinction is believed to be caused by them all being sawed down by Primordials. The reason that the primordial's destroyed the trees is believed to have been because they used them in some sort of way to help them destroy the Elder Titans, which they had gone to war with.

Possible Survival

Some believe that there are still primordial trees living deep within the unexplored interior of Tandonia. The most compelling piece of evidence for the existence of these trees is the primordial leaf. This leaf is an extremely large leaf which was discovered on an island off of the coast of Tandonia in 876. The primordial leaf is about 328 feet (100 m) wide and 656 feet long (200 m). A leaf of this incredible size could only have come from a tree of massive size, and testing has shown that this leaf was still alive only about 8 years before it landed in the location in which it was discovered, clear evidence that the species of tree it came from is still extant.
