Panagon

Panagon is a large continent from the The Outlands that is ruled by Dinosaurs and pterosaurs. Panagon is controlled by the Merindian Empire in the east, which has a powerful presence and has been colonizing the continent for decades, and Regius in the east, which is also attempting to colonize the continent. The continent is controlled mostly by it's native inhabitants however, who are very diverse. The natives of Panagon can range from stone age tribes to fully industrialized modern nations, such as Harellia. Panagon was recently devastated by the brutal Panagon War, which was a massive clash between the native Harellia and the Merindian Empires, colonies.

Geography

Panagon is an extremely large and diverse continent. It is divided into several regions that are shown on the map above.

The Swamp of Giants

The swamp of giants is a region on the west coast of Panagon. The Swamp of Giants is a swamp made up of massive trees and huge mushrooms that grow out of the murky water, and on the water there are massive lilypads large enough to hold a man, as well as several species of swamp flowers and large carnivorous plants. The Swamp of Giants is a very hostile place, and is home to large fish-eating dinosaurs, huge snakes and crocodiles, massive flesh eating fish, snapping turtles, and colossal amphibians. The natives of the Swamp of Giants are very well adapted to their swamp life. They build their dwellings in trees and on the many rocky outcroppings there and build bridges and walkways between them. Despite the wet, humid, and unpleasant environment outside the houses of the natives there are described as very comfortable and inviting. These natives use steel tools that are made by digging up huge heaps of bog iron and making it into steel. The entire swamp of giants region is ruled by the Merindian Empire. The Merindians allow the natives to continue their traditional way of life, but they ask for mild taxation, access to their population to conscript in times of war, and access to their natural resources. In turn the natives are given access to new technologies, full citizenship in the Merindian Empire, protection, and access to far more trade.

The Titanwood Rainforest

The Titanwood Rainforest is a large rainforest that borders the northern and western edges of the Red Desert. The Titanwood Rainforest is a tropical rainforest which is primarily dominated by titanwood trees, colossal trees that can reach up to 600 feet (183 meters) tall. These trees form a huge canopy over the rest of the rainforest below, yet their huge leaves allow most sunlight through, and shine like emeralds in the day. Beneath the canopy the ground is dominated by grass and large ferns, and even large fern trees. The Titanwood Rainforest is home to many large dinosaur species. The natives of the Titanwood Rainforest tend to use iron tools and generally live in hunter-gatherer societies, although a few agricultural civilizations exist in the region. These civilizations and the tribes often clash for various reasons. They also both heavily use tamed/domesticated dinosaurs for several uses. They are used as livestock, as mounts, as hunters, as work animals, and many other uses. This land however is fully controlled by the Merindian Empire.

The Red Desert

The Red Desert is a larger desert a large inland desert in the western part of Panagon. It is famous for it's red rocks and sands. It a.s a very hot and dry area, and is part sandy desert and part rocky crags. The vast deserts of the Red Desert is the site of many bloody battles, and the remains of destroyed tanks, trains, airships, and planes litter some areas of the landscape. The red desert is mostly used for mining, and railway transport, although some towns exist at oases. The wildlife of the Red Desert is dinosaurs that are adpated to life in an extremely hot and dry world. The natives of the Red Desert are mostly nomadic desert hunter/gatherers. The Red Desert is currently ruled by the Merindian Empire, although it used to be ruled by Harellia, but they lost if after a war with the Merindian Empire.

Ungkola Rainforest

The Ungkola Rainforest is a massive tropical rainforest in the southwest part of Panagon. The Unkola Rainforest is dense, dangerous, and almost completely unexplored. The Ungkola Rainforest has vast rivers dividing up it's huge mass, yet not even these rivers have been fully explored yet. The forests are very dense and difficult to navigate, and are made up of smaller trees than the ones in the Titanwood Rainforest, but they're still very large. The unkola rainforest is home to an extremely diverse array of species from large to small. The native of the Ungkola rainforest are mostly stone age hunter/gatherers, but some large permanent villages exist along the river banks. There is also a civilization that exists further up the rivers, and it builds huge temple cities and has a strong presence in the Ungkola Rainforest. The large peninsula on the southwest of the Ungkola Rainforest is ruled by the Merindian Empire, a small part of the northeast is controlled by Harellia, and the rest is controlled by native tribes and kingdoms.

The Calamite Mountains

The Calamite Mountains are a massive mountain range in the center of Panagon. The Calamites all rest on a colossal plateau which is about 5,000 meters (16,400 feet) tall, and ontop of it stand even taller heights. The mountains of the Calamites are so extremely tall that they're the tallest mountains ever found outside of Tandonia, reaching up to 12,200 meters (40,000 feet) tall at their tallest. The calamites are extremely cold and windy, yet mountain dwelling dinosaurs are still able to thrive there, being adapted to high altitudes and having thick feather coats. The natives of the Calamites are masters of stoneworking and mountain living. They carve their dwellings into cliffs and build bridges and tunnels between them, or they build huts on the highest peaks. The largest kingdom of the Calamites has it's capital city around a powerful volcano and frequently gathers up prisoners from beyond the Calamites to sacrifice to their gods by throwing them into the volcano. The Calamite Mountains are entirely controlled by Panagon natives.

The Southlands

The Southlands is in the central/southern area of Panagon. The southlands has a large semi-wooded part that starts in the west and runs northeast, a grassy area, part of the Bone Mountains is in the Southlands too, the other half being part of the Green Sea. The southern part of the Southlands that juts out is a very hilly but forested area. The Southlands is home to diverse species of dinosaurs and pterosaurs. The natives of the Southlands are controlled by Harellia, a very large confederation of native kingdoms formed to resist the Merindian Empire.

West/East Albaskaal

Albaskaal is the vast northern region of Panagon. The southern/central areas of Albaskaal are cold/temperate. This is a landscape of vast temperate forests, tall frozen mountains, glaciers, and lakes. Southern/central Albaskaal has 4 seasons, it is warm and sunny during the summer and bitterly cold and snowy in the winter. Northern Albaskaal is a land of always winter, having few trees, and being a seemingly endless landscape of stone, snow, and ice. Albaskaal is home to dinosaurs that are adapted to a cold climate. They hibernate sometimes, and all possess thick coats of warm feathers. The natives of Albaskaal are very varied in technology/society. Some live in kingdoms that use steel tools, and others are bronze-age tribes. The western part of West Albaskaal is ruled by the Merindian Empire, the eastern half of West Albaskaal is ruled by the natives. East Albaskaal is ruled entirely by Regius.

The Green Sea

The Green Sea is a massive expanse of grassy terrain. The green sea is mainly flat, but there are a few hilly areas, and the bone mountains to the southwest. There are some lightly forested areas, although a vast majority of the green sea is made up of tall grass though. The Green Sea is home to dinosaurs that are evolved to graze on grass and run fast across the wide open plain. The natives of the Green Sea are nomadic herders or hunter/gatherers. These natives are masters of beasts, taming raptors to hunt with, fast dinosaurs are used as mounts, and pterosaurs help them hunt smaller, faster prey.

Godwana Rainforest

The Godwana Rainforest is a large area of rainforest that covers land and islands on the eastern coast of Panagon. The Godwana rainforest has a thick canopy of diverse trees, and is home to a wide array of dinosaurs, pterosaurs, mammals, reptiles, and arthropods. The natives of the Godwana Rainforest are varied, some live in stone-age hunter/gatherer tribes while others, mostly on the islands are iron-age sea traders. The Islands of the eastern Godwana rainforest are ruled by Regius.

The Craglands

The Craglands is a region in the southeast of Panagon. The Craglands are hot and dry, and covered in dusty forests, steep cliffs, jagged rocks, and treacherous mountains. The trees of the craglands tend to be twisted and gnarled, and the bushes and shrubs are thorny and dry. The dinosaurs of the Craglands are hard and rough, and their feathers are sharp and pointy. Dinosaurs adapted to climb up rocky cliffs are especially prominent in the Craglands. The natives of the Craglands are very unique. They are a reclusive civilization that has been able to master the hidden powers of sound waves, frequencies, and vibrations to do amazing things. These effects can be used to do many things such as soften stone into an easily malleable shapes. They also use sound to heat up and shape metal, forming the metal into extremely complex metallic fractals that form extremely unique and beautiful structures that are build onto cliffs and mountain slopes. Their sound can also be used as various forms of weaponry, transportation, and as a stunning form of art that consists of floating liquid. They keep the secrets to this technology a secret however, fearing that outsiders will use it against them. This civilization fought of a Regian invasion using their sonic weaponry, and have continued to maintain their independence.

Fauna & Flora

Panagon is a vast and untamed continent, it is ruled over by massive ancient forests and mighty dinosaurs.   Panagon is home to numerous species of dinosaurs, for example, there are around 30 species of large theropod dinosaurs on panagon including tryrannosaurus, spinosaurus, gigantosaurus, allosaurus, baryonyx, ceratosuarus, carnotaurus, and carcharodontosaurus. There are many species of raptors including but not limited to velociraptor and utahraptor. Other predatory dinosaurs on Panagon include strange species like the egg eating gigantoraptor and the tiny compsognathus.   Herbivorous dinosaurs are also very diverse. There are several species of ceratopsids such as triceratops, eotriceratops, and styracosaurus. There are species like stegosaurus, kentrosaurus, and others like pachycephalosaurs, therizinosaurus, armoured species like ankylosaurus and several of it's relatives. There are also around a dozen species of hadrosaurs and saurolophus dinosaurs like parasaurolaphus. The largest type of herbivore on Panagon are the massive sauropods. There are around 20 sauropod species on Panagon and that includes argentinosaurus, saltasaurus, diplodocus, and brachiosaurus.   Panagon is still diverse in life other than dinosaurs, for example pterosaurs, which fill the role that birds do in the midlands. Pterosaurs are extremely diverse on panagon, and there are around 2500 species of them known from there, the largest of which is quetzalcoatlus.   Panagon also has small insect eating mammals, giant snakes, massive arthropods, primitive birds, and dozens of diverse species of crocodile, such as deinosuchus, sarcosuchus and sarcosuchus.
