Visorta Volenus

It is unclear as to whether the darkness of the sky in Visorta Volenus is a natural effect or if it is the result of years of pollution that will eventually kill every inhabitant of that country or if it is simply a deliberate cosmetic effect to make it look more dramatic. The pollution is unlikely, given that while a Council of Evil allied Visorta Volenus will make every effort to show off its factories and their harsh noises and smoke, their scientific advances are more than enough to have myriad ways of cleaning up their own messes.   Past leaders include such notables as Agnalda the Almost-Significant. The last overlord before the present leader was Scientifica Supreme Marie Alande. The Alande family is notable, but for their scientist, not typically for their leadership roles. Marie Alande proved to be the exception, leading Visorta Volenus for around four decades successfully before choosing her successor and stepping down gracefully. She will not likely be recorded as a famous overlord, but she was effective in keeping her people happy and designed several weapons that are now in common use across the Overlord world.   Their official coat of arms is crossed black scimitars on a purple field. The people are commonly called Vivonians.   The titles used by the leaders of Visorta Volenus are as varied as the past careers of those who hold the title. The most recent titles include Scientifica Supreme and Grand Lord. It all depends on what the current leader chooses to specialize in, and what approach they intend to take to leadership.   Visorta Volenus is one of the more flexible in terms of its allegiances, although not quite as much as Varios. This is probably because every time a new leader is selected, the entire direction of the country will change. With an acute focus on intellect and ability, leaders are selected not by overthrow or by direct succession, but rather by application. Outside of a few harsh overthrows that were necessary to stop a bad system, potential leaders are expected to submit a plan for the direction of the country to a committee. When the current leader dies or retires, the committee goes through these plans and selects the one that is best prepared. The decision can be weighted slightly depending on what moral leaning the country is currently in, and by which candidate the current leader prefers, but anyone can submit, and they can submit any kind of plan that involves progressing the status quo or altering it entirely. And if this plan happens to involve a completely different set of allies, then the people will still go along with it. The allies of Visorta Volenus have learned to be quite forgiving when a new leader is selected.   The current leader is Grand Lord Morpheus. His appearance, with dark hair and pale, scarred skin makes him physically suited, which is a factor included in his presentation. What was also included was the fact that he is a son of Dramonger III of Gorathia, his skill with blades, and his plan to steal a valuable crystal matrix from Yng-tox and build a super-laser to threaten the country of Teliseo.
