-dale
This country has undergone so many changes in name that on official documents it is usually referred to by the suffix that it has retained through each change. -dale is fifty percent pure white desert, and fifty percent lush tropical jungle. One of the earliest rulers decided to grow a massive hedgerow around the country as a border fence. The name Cheezidale was an aberration in an already colorful history and only lasted six weeks, which was the amount of time it took to file the paperwork for the change and then file the paperwork for the subsequent change to Roendale.
It has no nickname, because the people of -dale are highly intelligent and extremely vindictive (if fortunately difficult to enrage). Also, they are around three feet tall. Unlike most such races found in the storybooks of Earth, they do not seem to take offense at any mentions of their lack of height. -dale is in fact home to a number of different diminutive races. They each have their own names, but after an influx of Earth transplants they now go by the more popular Earth-type names, like halfling and Gnome. Dwarf kind is also supposedly from -dale but recent discovers have rendered this false. They are essentially the same race, except for a few external attributes that can be attributed to micro-evolution via careful breeding. And also a few cultural nuances have sprung up over the years.
Fidelio Matores and his wife Calendre are the king and queen here currently. Fidelio is a former hero and the one who won the throne, but everyone knows it’s his wife who is the smart one. Fidelio recently exiled his son Patricio for being too respectful.
