El-Danweith

The Capital of the Elven Kingdom in the Great Forest, El-Danweith is home to some 20,000 elves. It wends its way from tree tops to the forest floor and into a shallow cave system that riddles some of the rockier hills underneath. It is a place of solemn, magical natural beauty. Although most of the Great Forest contains trees in the light to dark green color palette, its not unusual to find trees of white, silver, gold, and even unusual violets and indigos near the heart of El-Danweith.

Government

The Elves of The Great Forest are ruled over by Queen Emelaith and her son Prince FIngolfin. The Queen handles all non military and internal matters while the Prince is in charge of military actions. On diplomatic matters they conference with each other and a council, but the ultimate decisions are made by the Queen.

Defences

A number of elven outposts and watchtowers are scattered throughout the entirety of the Great Forest. These outposts serve as operational bases for elven ranging teams which often include rangers and elven mages. Some of them serve as waypoints for diplomats and ambassadors, as is the case with the Elven Watchtower in the Donneshire Hills.

Infrastructure

Sweeping bridges, tiered tree top terraces, and smoothly carved cavern passageways connect the elven kingdom together.

History

El-Danwieth has stood as the elvish capital for millennia. In the Forgotten Years, it was one of two original home settlements of the Elves of Malatoria. The other El-Isilfuine, was the sight of Dorellereth, the great calamity that led to the schism of the elvish people, the division of light and dark, and the exodus of the dark elves to the Fangwood Forest.

Architecture

The "Elvish Curve" can be seen in much of the finely carved woodwork and stonecraft in the Great Forest, some of it apparently eons old. The elves took great pains that their civilization be built in tandem with the growth of the forest. At times it can be difficult for an outside eye to know where the forest ends and the city begins.

Geography

El-Danweith lies in the thickest and tallest part of the Great Forest. Some parts of the forest floor give way to a shallow cave system underneath, where clear streams wind their way to far parts of the forest.
