Tithera

A Mountainous and heavy woodland City State, Tithera has had great ties to the feywild and the creatures of nature. Once upon a time, the leaders were chosen from Thinkers, brought together from Archon’s and commoner alike. When the previous leader died, or showed a clear case of mental infirmity, they would bring together hopefuls and test their ability to solve puzzles, think strategy and prove their intellectual prowess.
The winner was then chosen by a council of elders, and vaulted to King or Queen, while also being brought into a noble family if they did not hail from one.

That last leader chosen by this method was in 1526, who rules to this day in an unaging state and showing no signs of giving way.

Structure

Anassa Orator (Queen Speaker)
Rousia (Council of Elders)
Archon (Lord)
Polis (Citizens)
Xenos (Foreigner)

Public Agenda

The Current Goals of Tithera is to expand the current level of culture thorough the unification of Magic, Nature and Technology.

  • The Chamber of Tithera. A Great Debating Hall, where the Anassa Orator and the gathered council of Rousia and Archon sit and debate matters of the day. This Chamber is often used by philosophers as a lecture hall when the chamber is not in session.
  • The Statue of Denryas. A Great Silver statue resides over the entrance towards the Palace of the Orator, sat in quiet contemplation.

Fortifications
The City State of Tithera is surrounded by the Forest of Denryas, making most fortifications unnecessary. There is a simple Stone wall interlaced through the Forest, acting as a boundary of the central city itself.

Military

The Military Forces of Tithera are made up of willing applicants, that hold no more power than the average citizen (except in matters of lawbearing).
In times of war, able bodied citizens will often nominate themselves immediatly to join the military service.

Religion

While the Great Hellanic Pantheon is observed, and has many shrines across Tithera, the Majority of worship is given to Girokti, Goddess of the Earth and Agriculture and Sedloga, God of Smithing and Crafting.
The denizens of Tithera also give a great amount of dedication to Denryas, Goddess of Dryads and the Trees, from the Lesser Hellanic Pantheon, in large part to the connection to the Forest of Denryas that their land resides on.

Legislative Body
All Laws, Rules and matters of state are carried out by the Rousia, a council that consists of eight members, under the supervision of the Anassa Orator. In matters of great importance, the Anassa Orator will often order that all Archon's - that are not part of the Rousia - to join proceedings. The Rousia meet weekly to discuss matters of import, though this can become more frequent if matters of state require it.

All of the Laws and Rules must first be approved by the Anassa Orator, who has final say and word on all matters, no matter the importance.

The Current Members of the Rousia of Tithera as of 1595 are:

  • Archousa Ismene Apion of Chryso (Centaur, Female)
  • Archousa Karme Petraliphas of Chryso (Leonin, Female)

Judicial Body
For matters of day to day necessity, trained soldiers do the work of guards, protecting the city and ensuring the law is obeyed. In times of war, Common Polis will often be drafted to take on the role of Frouros (Watchmen).

Lawbreakers will often be dealt with quickly and swiftly, being brought before a Judge. The Judges will often be three impartial elders, chosen from the local priesthood to undertake the laws and punish where necessary.
