Reptilian humanoid
A not-quite scientific classification, reptilian humanoids are any humanoid species which contains genetic splicing with Terran reptiles, or which appear reptilian enough to justify not including them among the mammalian humanoids. Scientifically, only species with reptilian genes count, but the broader use is the one more commonly known, and thus often creeps its back back into scientific works.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Like all humanoids, the base anatomy of reptilian humanoids is derived from that of humans. Splicing with reptilian species has altered the anatomy of the various species of reptilian humanoids, however, and often in different and varying ways. This includes physical, visual differences, like most reptilian humanoids being bipedal, with a plantigrade stance, but often hairless (unlike their human ancestors), but also internal anatomical differences. Most reptilian humanoids are endotherms, although some are ectothermic, or may even have some other form of thermoregulation. Ectotherm reptilian humanoids are often large and bulky, relying on gigantothermy to more easily maintain their body temperature.
