Herith

Strangely disproportionate mammalian humanoids, heriths are among the rare few humanoids with severe sexual dimorphism. Male heriths are not only significantly larger and much heavier than women, but they also have significant changes to the head and face, which they develop during puberty. Female heriths which (medically) transition to male heriths can mostly develop those same features, if not the height, but male heriths transitioning to female only see some reduction, and not even to the (very noticeable) nasal resonating chambers.
Heriths are also notable for being among the rare few humanoid species capable of flight, although they prefer to glide when possible.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Heriths are largely human-like in appearance, with the exception of their arms and, to some extent, their face (more so for male heriths than female heriths). Their skin and hair colors fall within human ranges, although the eyes are always dark brown in color.
The most striking feature of a herith are the arms. Long and almost gibbon-like, with very long (and very uneven) fingers. The underside of the hand and fingers looks oddly bony, with smooth pinkish skin, making them appear almost skin-less. They have skin connecting between the fingers, as well as between the arms and legs, forming a large patagium (but not connecting the legs with each other).
Heriths also have somewhat unusual heads. They have large, dark eyes, capable of night vision, but their ears are smaller and mostly rounded, with a slight point at the tip. Male heriths also develop further alien traits during puberty, resulting in strangely boxy heads. They have enormous resonating chambers attached to their nasal cavities, which combine with their much larger larynges to allow for much louder calls. Additionally, male heriths have extra large lips.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Though heriths are herbivores by nature, they can and do eat a broader diet if necessary. They favor fruit above all other food.

Heriths have somewhat reduced hearing, compared to baseline humans, but in turn have excellent night vision. Relatedly, they are nocturnal by nature.
