Arkel
One of many species of Near-Humans, Arkels are made distinct by their vivid colors and many horns. Despite this, they are among the more human of all Near-Humans, with a very human appearance beyond their horns and coloration.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Arkels, as Near-Humans, overall have anatomy very similar to that of humans. They have many horns on their heads however, including larger horns set around the temple, and smaller ones scattered around the dome of the skull. Exact count of horns and placement varies, and even size can vary some among individuals, although it tends to be tied stronger to diet than genetics.
Also notable are their colors. Arkels have brightly colored skins with (often darker) spotted patterns. Their hair and eyes are also typically vividly colored, though not always.
On a less visual note, arkels are also sturdier than baseline humans. They have a slightly tougher variant of keratin than most Near-Humans (though a unique form that doesn't match non-mammalian forms of keratin). As keratin occurs in many places, including skin, nails, and organs, this increased toughness thus carries over into the arkel's overall increased toughness.
