Holidays and Festivities: Zecher Tshuva Solstice - "Remembrance" or "Penance"

The time of the Solstices is often a holiday spent with family and friends and is often used to send messages and love letters to the dearly departed. As the solstices are regarded to celebrate the aspect of life mainly, the Equinox marks the aspect of death. The holiday is known as “Remembrance” or "Penance" and is well known to honour and remember the deceased, usually forming a small shrine in their honour and burning incense. They are celebrated on the day before [Zecher] and the day after [Tshuva]. They say that if you do this and place a letter you wish to send to the dearly departed with a gift of equal value to give them, they will take the letter and send it to the Underworld.   If one were to gift something precious to the dearly departed and the letter they wish to send, The [Shepherd] would share a fond memory of their loved ones. And if it is something that is held close to the one sending the letter, the soul of the deceased will visit them in their dreams. An old folk tale says death is fond of gold in all its forms, and a coin or ring is often set beside a letter upon the shrine in hopes of earning [Shepherd]'s favour. It is a holiday of joy and sadness, but one that is kept close to the hearts of Agrovian near and far.   The Solstices are both called [Solara Aeacus] and [Lunara Aeacus]
