Ailyailyah - The Great Tree: The Philosophy and Physiology of the Holy Tree and the Four Greater Worlds

The tree of life holds deep value both philosophically and literally within Agrovia. It is, in fact, the very centre of the kingdom and had been the very foundation of the empire in more ways than one. The [Saints], through to Agrovia’s citizens, view it as a religious icon and deeply respect it as the lynchpin of their culture and the very thing which gave them life. It is most commonly referred to as [The Great Tree], as its proper name is sacred and is only spoken by those who have the blessing of its residents. It is commonly known as a great cosmic filter that holds together the four greater worlds and filters out the anomalies and chaotic aspects of existence to maintain balance and promote order within its domains. Back in Agrovia’s homeworld, and even here on Earth, it is known to be the most prominent structure globally and stands high above all else, both figuratively and literally.   The Great Tree [Ailyailyah] is known to house just about every known race within [Asilya Illyah], and all flora and fauna exist within its forest, which has been named [Harlequin Forest] after the denizen King of the Fae, who is the primary means of communication between the humans and the spiritual races. As the tree is known to be mind-numbingly massive, its roots reach far deep into the core of the Earth and throughout Agrovia. Surprisingly, as the tree resides within the centre of Agrovia, only the southern half of the continent is covered by its forest, as Candria, among its other provinces, has built cities upon its roots to siphon out its energy to prevent it from overgrowing and running rampant. Due to this, the humans and other races who inhabit the cities built on the many Leylines and Roots of the tree, the residents of Agrovia are granted free and clean energy to use without harming the environment.   However, as this does have its limits, a treaty between Agrovia and the forest residents has been made so that the humans can collect the [Torah] crystals that grow within the forest. These crystals are the full manifestation of overflowing energy produced throughout the woods. It can be harvested and used as a fuel source, and some of its deposits grow even larger than Candria itself. Due to this, they are harvested regularly as they can have adverse effects on the forest itself and aids it when gathered.   It is the very centre of Agrovia, it is also the same thing, creating the dimensional barrier around the continent. The border is spherical and covers the entire continent in all directions. Though there has always been a particular barrier around Agrovia itself, with the help of the Dimensional Overlay Magick Areyth devised, allowing its citizens to travel between Earth and Illyah, the border is stronger than ever. Only those granted a special pass can even enter the waters surrounding the continent. The passes people use are known as [Zohar] and are used by all who wish to enter and exit Agrovia. Think of it as a dimensional passport.   The tree itself is said to have existed since the beginning of time and had been the by-product of the old worlds collapsing in on each other. However, remnants of ancient worlds do still exist; they have been collapsed into each other to create [Illyah], the world from which Agrovia originates. As it is seen to be the very centre of the world, it well lives up to its name in terms of size. Reaching rough fifteen hundred to twenty-three hundred kilometres tall, with a circumference of proportionate value which allows it to tower over the very heavens itself, the great tree is often said to be limitless in size.   This is because its home-world [Illyah] is five to seven times the size of Earth. This is mainly because the upper echelon of the tree is shrouded within the higher plane of existence, the overworld known as [Atzilia Beheirah]. Due to this, it does not block out the sun or cast a shadow over Agrovia; however, those on other continents can see it off in the distance. In fact, due to a unique ancient magick, it can be seen from all parts of the globe, off in the distance somewhere. The actual size of the tree itself reaches well over thirty thousand kilometres high, though it is manifested into the higher planes of existence, roots and all. This does not include its roots, which are said to reach the most bottomless pits of the Underworld.
