Trees and shrubs

Many different types of tree and shrub adorn the islands of the Helerin Archipelago.
Some of these are used as timber for construction or crafts, while others are sources of dyes, medicine, spicesor fruits.

Trees

Acacia

Used for making perfumes and dyes and inks.

Beech

Beech trees, resistant to water, are used in coastal construction and shipbuilding.

Cedar

Grown in the Seynan Islands, Forbin, and Teros, Cedar's long-lasting wood is used in construction and shipbuilding.

Crommis

Small fruiting tree with golden leaves, its sap acts as an antidote to poisons.

Cypress

A moisture-resistant tree, common in coastal areas, used for building and shipbuilding.

Elm

Durable and used for construction, elm trees are found in southern Forbin.

Fig

Found in the Seynan Islands, fig trees are cultivated for food.

Fir

Grows widely across Helerin, particularly in Forbin and Teros, its wood is used for doors and roofing beams.

Laurel

Found in Westrun, laurel wood is prized for fine furniture.

Oak

Oak trees can be found across Helerin, but mostly in Remon and Forbin. Oak is used for building large structures and ships.

Olive

Cultivated for its fruit (both for food and oil) and as timber.

Pajoman

Twisted tree found in Festermere swamps, its nut provides a citrusy zest to pastries.

Pine

Found widely across Forbin, Teros, and Remon, pines are used for construction.

Silverhorn

A short, dark green conifer with widely sweeping branches, grows in uplands of Remon and Forbin.

Sirathin

A short conifer tree with spiky needles, grows in Teros and Remon.

Walnut

Found predominantly in Forbin, walnut trees provide durable wood and edible walnuts.

White Beech

A tall deciduous tree with bright golden leaves, native to Nythran Forest.

Shrubs and bushes

Achamen

Low, wide shrub with delicate silver leaves, adds a floral note to dishes.

Areem

Spicy fruits from the Areem bush are widely cultivated, adding heat to savory dishes.

Arraxosa

Hardy flowering shrub with bright red petals, its petals help stop bleeding.

Banthis

Large woody shrub with broad, pale leaves, used for a nutty flavor in foods.

Beyrian

A bushy shrub with fragrant flowers used by magicians for mental recovery.

Chorka

Broad red-leaved bush that produces white winter berries, adds a bitter tang to dishes and alcoholic drinks.

Thornfane

A low-growing shrub with twisted branches and long thorns, found in the hills of Remon.

Larionda

Thorny shrub with red seeds, used for treating diseases.

Malofan

Gnarly, thorny shrub from desert regions, its bark infuses drinks with a smoky warmth.

Pryval

Large evergreen shrub that adds umami to stews, grows around Jalussan.
