White Beech

The White Beech is a striking deciduous tree known for its tall stature and bright golden leaves. Native to the forests of Remon, particularly the Nythran Forest, this species is notable for its beauty as well as its utility. The White Beech is often associated with nobility and elegance due to its radiant foliage and strong, flexible wood.

Form and Appearance

The White Beech tree is tall and slender, often reaching heights of up to 80 feet. Its smooth, pale bark has a silvery sheen, giving the tree an ethereal quality, especially when bathed in sunlight. The tree’s leaves are broad, oval-shaped, and turn a vivid golden hue in the autumn, creating a striking contrast against the pale bark. The White Beech produces small, inconspicuous flowers in the spring, followed by tiny nuts that are eaten by woodland creatures.

Habitat

White Beech trees thrive in cool, temperate forests with rich, well-drained soil. They prefer shady areas with plenty of moisture, often growing alongside streams or in sheltered valleys. These trees are commonly found in the dense, ancient forests of Remon, where they form part of the natural woodland canopy. They also do well in hilly regions where the soil is fertile and the air is cool.

Geographic Distribution

The White Beech is most commonly found in Remon, especially within the Nythran Forest. It grows in the cooler, shadier parts of the forest, often dominating the landscape with its tall, pale trunks and golden leaves. While native to Remon, the White Beech has also been planted in other temperate regions of Helerin, where it is valued for its beauty and its timber.

Uses

White Beech wood is prized for its flexibility and strength, making it ideal for use in the construction of furniture, tools, and even ships. The wood is also highly sought after for making fine cabinetry and paneling, particularly in homes of the wealthy. Due to its smooth texture and pale color, it is often used for decorative woodwork.   Additionally, the bright golden leaves of the White Beech are sometimes gathered and used in ceremonial garlands during festivals, symbolizing prosperity and renewal.
