King Dastan III has supreme command of Remon's
military forces to defend the kingdom from external threats.
Day-to-day operations are managed by high-ranking officers, regional rulers, and local captains, each responsible for their own territories and key military installations.
Remon's culture prizes martial strength, and military leaders and heroes receive much honour.
Strategic Objectives
Remon's military strategy is primarily focused on ensuring adequate power to deal with the
Realm of Forbin on an equal footing.
Its position in the furthest west of the
Helerin Archipelago reduces its exposure to regional neighbours, and serious threats from other realms are considered unlikely.
Military Forces
Armies
Remon's armies are commanded by
Lady Jurashan, the Grand Commander of Remon, on the King's behalf. Jurashan was a hero during the
War of Salvation, leading Remon's forces in the assault upon
Amur Lefra.
Regional forces
Remon retains no standing army, but regional comanders at towns and key forts maintain local garrisons ultimately commanded by
Lady Jurashan.
These may be supplemented by conscription in time of war.
Palace Guard
The Palace Guard serves as the personal force of the King at the
palace, in
Harsann. This elite unit is tasked with protecting the royal family, the palace, and key assets within the capital. In addition, it performs many ceremonial dutues.
Commander Forchamen is the Head of the Palace Guard. A superb fighter and a hero in the
War of Salvation, Forchamen is a strong and exacting leader. He leads a force of around 400 soldiers.
Naval Forces
Remon's Navy stands separately from its other military forces.
Lady Tenatheen commands Remon's fleet on behalf of the King. A competent and tenacious woman, she is well-respected by her subordinates.
Remon's Navy is primarily based in the capital,
Harsann, although smaller fleets are stationed at
Jaltra and
Laknas.
Fortifications and Defensive Strategy
Remon has many castles, tower, and forts. Positioned at strategic locations throughout the realm, these fortifications serve as strongholds, garrisons, and defensive barriers against both external and internal threats.

King Dastan III the keep has become a hub of corruption and ambition, as Garron turns the once-honourable fortress into his personal fiefdom.
The Old Palace in
Jaltra once served as the royal residence of Remon’s monarchs before the capital moved to
Harsann. Now occupied by
Princess Karenth, the King’s younger sister, the palace still houses a small garrison and the Royal Crypt, while its crumbling western wing falls into the sea.
The Royal Palace in
Harsann is the current seat of the
monarchs of Remon, and home to the
Court of the King.
Perched above the cascading falls of the
River Dayn, the Garrison at
Soldra is a critical outpost controlling trade with the
Norran. Commanded by the strict
Captain Yuldan, tensions have risen as Yuldan’s harsh policies have damaged trade relations with the Norran cities.
Recent campaigns
In the
War of Salvation (2260-2264), Remon supported Forbin in its defence from invasion by the forces of
Yarivona of
Teros.
Remon then supported Forbin in its successful invasion of Teros, although the King,
Sandar, was killed in the fighting.
