Hand of Marea

This island chain is the remnants of a long extinct volcanic chain. These volcanoes include three smaller summits with one larger volcano and summit. The islands are made from he surrounding slopes, and are known to most as a tropical paradise. They are sparsely inhabited by the local peoples, save the main city of Mareton. The islands are covered in lush vegetation including a unique species of palm tree. Beautiful beaches surround the islands, and sailors love to spend time in the local taverns and enjoy the islands breeze.

Geography

The tall peaks of the ancient volcanoes rise tall out of the sea and are a welcome sight for sailors making their way across the large Mercator Ocean. The largest volcano has variegated sides covered in tropical trees doted with Marea palm. The four islands surrounding the main island are smaller dormant volcanoes that are slightly older than the main island and have been significantly eroded. The land on these islands is very fertile. The town of Mareton inhabits a small natural harbor on the main island.

Fauna & Flora

Fauna The main creatures that live on these islands are foreign to most other parts of the world. The species that live her have yet to be fully explored, although creatures resembling Arbaq and Archar have been storied of on the islands. Tenmar and Mind Stingers also inhabit the forests of these islands. Flora Although many of the flora on these islands still have yet to be uncovered. Flowers of all colors and sizes cover the island. However, the defining feature of the islands are the Marea palm. They are slightly taller than most other trees and palm on the islands and are much sturdier. They are unique in this way in that they are almost a hardwood tree and make great vessels which the natives have used for centuries for this purpose.

Natural Resources

The islands lack many natural resources besides the mare palm, however this is rarely exported, due to the availability of local hardwoods on the mainlands. In some cases the unique wood is used by wealthy peoples of the mainland for furniture. Some native fruits are exported to the mainland as well, but it is hard for them to survive the long journey.
