Channel Islands

These three islands rise from the sea just off the coast of Eteros, near the town of Ungon. They help to create a small bay, home to a small fishing community who utilize the rich fishing off the island's coasts. Small settlements exist on the islands for the same reason as the mainland settlement. The islands are named for three brothers who are part of an old myth of the people of the surrounding areas. The eldest brother, Latmer, was anxious to set out on his journey and left in a hurry to claim the largest island for himself. However, he ended up forgetting important supplies and had done little preparation for the new island. He perished. His brother, Himar, set out to the second largest island. He believed he didn't need any help in settling his new lands and left with inexperienced travelers and few experts. He arrived on the island and quickly was overwhelmed by the new environment where their old techniques failed. He soon perished due to exposure. The last brother, Cadner, learning from the mistakes of his overzealous brothers, set out after careful preparation of his supplies and recruited survivors of his brothers failed expeditions who knew the islands. He set out for the final island, the smallest, and found it to be much more hospitable. He and his follower survived, and to this day a small village survives on the smallest and most southern of the islands.

Geography

The islands mostly consist of sandy beaches reaching a slight elevation at their centers. The islands are mostly made up of sand deposited from the outflow of Learners Bay and the Falgar Straits. The current carries this sediment south and deposits it around the islands, which storms will occasionally carry away.

Fauna & Flora

Another species of coastal cypress also inhabit these islands, but the lack of large storms keeps them in a more unruly growth pattern. However in the spring, when the trees erupt with purple flowers, the scent can be picked up for miles around. A fish know as Channel Longfin inhabits the waters surrounding these islands. It is a medium-sized fish prized for its good meat. However, they have slick bodies and powerful tails that allow their bullet-shaped bodies travel quickly through the water. They get their name from an elongated dorsal fin that swoops back over the length of their body, which allows them to better maneuver at high speeds.

Natural Resources

Fish is the only major resource of these coastal islands.
