The Dry Sea and Western Shore

This region includes the large desert known as the Dry Sea, as well as much of the western coast from the River Tempt in the North to Merchants Hope and Viston in the south. Two of the largest cities in Eteros sit on the coast of this region, and the Republic of The Western Shore has control over almost all of this region.

Geography

The region is dominated by the Dry Sea, an enormous area of small dunes, low lying hills, mountains, and scrubland. To the north of the dry sea are the Jafinem Hills which mark the change from this geographic region to the Riverlands. Another major feature is the Bay of Statham which brings the sea deep within the continent to the city of Laurus. Dust storms are common in this region which can last for hours to days.
The region also includes the Western Shore which has a Mediterranean climate and includes the cities of Merchant's hope. This region is known for its magnificent wines. However, the crops can sometimes be affected by the dust storms that roll off the Dry Sea.

Fauna & Flora

Harleqs and Narex are the major animals that dominate this region. Some tenmar can be found on the eastern fringe, but they will rarely cross the Dry Sea. The Desert Fire star is native to this region, especially the Jafinem hills. Otherwise Myalban berries can be found in the southeastern parts of this region while other strange fruits that have adapted to the semi-arid and very dry climate inhabit the areas around the Bay of Statham. The wines from this region are prized around the world.

Natural Resources

The desert areas are home to some rare minerals and gemstones, but otherwise the area is fairly devoid of mining resources. Fishing is a major source of food on the coasts, along with the fruits and vegetables adapted to the climate. Wine is a major export of the coastal area of this region, and is renowned worldwide.
