Tadeas Grappo
Major
Tadeas Grappo is a major in the Ossan military. He is the commanding officer of the Ironhorn Rams battalion. He is also brother to Adriana Grappo and uncle to Demir Grappo. Tadeas is in his late forties with black hair, a scarred and weathered face, and thoughtful brown eyes. He used to be a member of the Assembly before giving up his seat to his Assembly seat to his nephew and joining the military, but he still carries himself with the air of regality. According to Idrian Sepulki, Tadeas has passed up military promotions numerous times because he likes to work personally on the battlefield with his battalion.
Tadeas is single, though his sister Adriana tried to match him with potential partners several times, a pastime he misses after her death. His close friends and family call him Tad.
STORY
After the sack of Holikan, Tadeas Grappo ensures that Myria Forl is safe, keeping her with his battalion.
Tadeas is good friends with Idrian Sepulki, for whom he often acts as the voice of reason. For example, when Idrian rushes into battle without his armor, Tadeas scolds and threatens to court-martial him if he does anything that reckless again, and when Idrian loses his temper at a messenger from Colonel Wessen about a strategic retreat, Tadeas calms him down. As his superior officer, Tadeas also sometimes turns a blind eye to Idrian's schemes in important matters. For example, when Idrian goes on his secret mission for Demir Grappo to retrieve the cinderite from the Grent ducal palace, Tadeas and Mika Willaria forge documents that show Idrian took a two-day personal leave to visit his father. Tadeas is also one of the few people that knows about Idrian's personal secrets, namely that of his madness and his father's past abuse. He promises to help Idrian find a new master siliceer after the war to fashion a new high-resonance godglass eye to curb the madness. Tadeas also wonders aloud if he could resist killing Idrian's father if he ever met the man. Idriana and Tadeas also often tease one another. When Braileer Holdest joins the Ironhorn Rams, Idrian points out Tadeas to him, suggesting they could play cards together with the officers, though Tadeas cheats and hides it well.
Tadeus is badly wounded by a saber in a battle against Kerite's Drakes, but with the aid of cureglass and milkglass, he is still on his feet, ready to help Demir press their advantage against the retreating mercenaries.
