Cinderite

Cinderite is a naturally occurring, uncommon substance with a sorcerous resonance. It is created when lightning strikes a deposite of cindersand, forming long, tube-like branching pieces that look very much like a petrified young tree. Despite people having researched it for a thousand years, no one found a use for it until Adriana Grappo and Master Kastora use in their phoenix channel design. Thessa Foleer discovers that chiseling away its irregularities increased its natural sorcerous resonance.
STORY
Adriana Grappo came up with the idea of using cinderite for the core of the phoenix channel. Master Kastora's piece of cinderite used in his prototype is destroyed in the Grent Royal Glassworks fire, so Demir Grappo searches for another, learning that the Duke of Grent has an exquisite specimen of cinderite in his personal art collection. Demir sends Idrian Sepulki to acquire it for him when the Ossan Foreign Legion seizes of the Duke's estate. However, when General Stavri orders Idrian's battalion to fall back, away from the estate, Idrian sneaks into the Ducal Palace of Grent late at night to steal the cinderite, narrowly escaping through a chimney with the cinderite wrapped in a lambskin and strapped to his back. With that cinderite specimen, Thessa Foleer successfully creates a her own phoenix channel prototype.
