Colonel Wessen Character in Glass Immortals | World Anvil

Colonel Wessen

Colonel Wessen is a garrison colonel in the Ossan military. He and his garrison are technically part of the Ossan Foreign Legion, but he is the stationed commander of Fort Cundick. He is a mousy man in his forties with a very hunched over look that makes his shoulders and chin disappear. He also wears ill-fitting glasses. He is not a coward, simply ill-equipped. He is terrified of Tilly Jorfax, who seems his opposite, personality-wise. STORY   After the murder of General Stavri and his officers, Colonel Wessen orders the nearby Foreign Legion battalions, including the Ironhorn Rams, to retreat to the shadow of Fort Cundick to regroup. Idrian Sepulki does not like the plan, assuming Kerite's Drakes would massacre the civilians living in Bingham. However, Tadeus Grappo convinces Idrian that they needed to pull back.   Later, when Demir Grappo inspects Fort Cundick, he finds the fortress woefully ill-equipped and in disrepair, which forced Colonel Wessen to scrimp and save to feed and pay his garrison. Colonel Wessen further explains to Demir that supply shipments to the forts often got lost while salaries were usually delayed, a fact reflected in Wessen's moth-eaten uniform, dusty office, and empty liquor cabinet. Wessen suggests retreating, but Demir orders him to make all necessary repairs with the help of Capric Vorcien's craftsmen and laborers in order to prepare for an assault by Grent and Kerite's Drakes. As he leaves the meeting, he voices a wish that Demir had come along years ago to whip the army into shape.
