Ironhorn Rams
The Ironhorn Rams, also called the Ironhorns, is a battalion of combat engineers for the Ossan Foreign Legion. They are the most famous battalion in the Foreign Legion for having a high success rate and low mortality rate, and they have the reputation for being the best combat engineers in the Ossan Empire. Their ranks consist of three hundred soldiers, two hundred engineers, and one Breacher. They are led by Major Tadeas Grappo, Idrian Sepulki is their Breacher, and Mika Willaria and Valient serve as captains over engineers and soldiers respectively. Laurent serves as the quartermaster. Their banner has a yellow ram's head on it, which also appears on all their uniforms and armor. Idrian even has hammerglass rams horns on his helmet, giving him the nickname the Ram. The Ironhorns use the battle cry "We have the Ram!" in reference to Idrian or "Os-sa!" Their motto is "Horns ready, hooves steady."
STORY
The Ironhorn Rams are not present during Demir Grappo's victory at Holikan, but he borrows their Breacher Idrian Sepulki to join him in his battle. During the massacre, Tadeas Grappo keeps the Holikan mayor Myria Forl with the Ironhorns to protect her.
Nine years later, the Ironhorn Rams are later deployed against Grent and Kerite's Drakes to fortify the army's defenses and act as support to repair bridges, dig trenches, put up barricades, level ground for artillery batteries, lay mine fields, and craft explosive grenades. They also work to fortify the battered and undersupplied Fort Cundick.
When Demir moves to take control of the Ossan Foreign Legion, Idrian and the Ironhorn Rams wonder if he is fit to command them as rumors still spread about his breakdown at Holikan. However, Demir proves his capability during the subsequent battles. For example, under Mika Willaria's supervision, the Ironhorns destroy the dam and drown a large part of Kerite's Drakes's mercenaries near Fort Alameda, an event later called the Grappo Torrent, which serves to restore their faith in Demir.
Members of the Ironhorn Rams also witness the flying glassdancer and discover it has been killing the Foreign Legion's scouting parties. Under Idrian's leadership, they hunt down the flying glassdancer and wound it.
