Filur Magna

Filur Magna, also known as Craftsman Magna, is the overseer at the Ivory Forest Glassworks. He is in his mid-fifties with long black hair, a pointed and squirrel-like face, and very few siliceer scars on his arms. He wears an apron with the Magna silic sigil on the front and uses auraglass to increase his charisma. He is also a devout Rennite.   STORY   When Thessa Foleer is captured and taken to the Ivory Forest Glassworks, she meets Filur Magna and judges him to be an incompetent siliceer with no confidence who cares more about his ledgers than his workers. She lies to him, saying her name is Teala and that she is a senior apprentice siliceer and that Axio Darnasus is a junior apprentice. Craftsman Magna threatens to flog her if she speaks out of line again. He then has his enforcers search her. They discover the phoenix channel schematics in her boot, and he confiscates them, thinking she stole them to sell but not recognizing what they are.   Thessa learns from Pari that Craftsman Magna is a vehement Rennite, so in order to get into his office, Thessa pretends to also be a Rennite. He falls for her ruse, allowing her to enter his office and pray at his shrine to Renn. She studies the room and discovers a safe there.   When Demir Grappo becomes a shareholder of the Ivory Forest Glassworks, he goes to find Thessa under the guise of inspecting his new property. Craftsman Magna is angry at first, but Demir slips him a thousand ozza, so he begrudgingly gives Demir a tour, purposefully steering him away from their private furnaces, including Furnace Number Nine where they make fearglass. When Demir finds Thessa, he slips her a razorglass craftsman's knife.   That night, Craftsman Magna tortures Axio with the use of shackleglass, learning the truth about Thessa. Meanwhile, Thessa sneaks into Craftsman Magna's office using the razorglass knife and steals back the phoenix channel schematics. She also finds his secret ledgers that indicate that the Craftsman Magna is engaged in illegal godglass shipments, under-the-table sales, and illegitimate trading. She memorizes the ledgers so she can later use the information to blackmail the Magna if needs be. As she walks back to her workshop the next morning, Magna enforcers take her to Furnace Number Nine, where she finds that Craftsman Magna has tortured Axio. Now knowing her real identity, he asks about the schematics, which she refuses to talk about, so he burns Axio with molten fearglass to coerce her. Axio dies, but Demir arrives after killing the Magna enforcers. Demir knows he cannot kill Craftsman Magna without severe political repercussions within the Magna family. However, Craftsman Magna has no reservations about harming Demir and burns him with molten fearglass. Thessa reacts by pushing Craftsman Magna into the furnace and shutting the door, burning him alive. To hide her crime, Baby Montego sets fire to Furnace Number Nine and sounds the alarm about an accident. He then carries Demir and Thessa out of the glassworks.   After Demir takes control of the Ossan military, he uses Thessa's knowledge about Craftsman Magna's secret ledgers to force Supi Magna to drop his investigation into the Ivory Forest Glassworks "accident," threatening to bring an end to all the Magna's government contracts.
