Axio Darnasus Character in Glass Immortals | World Anvil

Axio Darnasus

Axio Darnasus is an assistant at the Grent Royal Glassworks. He is in charge of hauling firewood and keeping workshops clean. He is in his early twenties, two years younger than Thessa Foleer, with scraggly blond hair and a pretty face.   STORY   Axio Darnasus had been flirting with Thessa Foleer for six months, ever since he arrived at the Grent Royal Glassworks. She considers him a flirty little shit but does not actively discourage him. During the Winter Solstice holiday, Thessa wakes Axio for his shift, and he asks her about going with him to the solstice festival, but she says she will think about it. During the Ossan attack on the glassworks, Axio confronts a soldier with an axe to buy Thessa time to escape, telling her to run. He is captured and sent to the Ivory Forest Glassworks, where lies, saying he is a junior apprentice siliceer, hoping that would give him special treatment. However, this lie simply gives him the responsibility of fulfilling the godglass quota lest he get sent to the lumber camp. When Thessa is captured, she is reunited with Axio, who rushes up to hug her. She sees that he has been beaten, and he tells her about lying about being an apprentice. She tells him to lie about her identity also and to call her Teala instead. Knowing Axio cannot make godglass to fulfill the quota, she tries to teach him to how, but his nerves get the best of him. She encourages him, reminding him that they are together and that he is brave and capable. However, she ends up taking on the task of making godglass for the both of them to fulfill their quotas.   When Demir Grappo comes to the Ivory Forest Glassworks for the first time, Axio tells Thessa who he is and explains that he now owns part of the glassworks and was there to inspect it, which shocks all the guards since ownership had had not left the Magna guild-family for years. Thessa later uses the razorglass knife Demir slips her to break into Filur Magna's office to get the phoenix channel schematics. While she is in there, Craftsman Magna interrogates Axio in Furnace Number Nine with the use of a shackleglass collar. Coerced by the sorcery, Axio reveals everything about Thessa's real identity. Craftsman Magna summons Thessa to Furnace Number Nine, where she sees Axio has been beaten to a pulp. Craftsman Magna asks her what the schematics were, and she lies and says she does not know. Knowing he cannot use shackleglass on her because she is sorcery-aphasiac, he attempts to force her by smearing molten fearglass on Axio's arm. In severe mental anguish and pain, Axio begs for Thessa's help and tears at his own flesh, trying to remove the fearglass. He begins to foam at the mouth and convulse, and he eventually dies. In retaliation, Thessa pushes Craftsman Magna into the furnace and shuts the door, burning him alive. She later lights a candle for Axio and at the Wagonside omnichapel in front of the shrine for Kloor.
