Renn

Renn is the Nasuud goddess of commerce. Her followers are called Rennites. Omnichapels usually have small, pyramid-shaped shrines dedicated to Renn, at which her followers might light a candle, burn incense, and pray.   STORY   Because her parents were omniclerics, Thessa Foleer knows about Renn worship and pretends to be a Rennite in order to trick Filur Magna into letting her into his office so she can search for the phoenix channel schematics. She does not believe in Renn, however, making this simply a ruse.   After she escapes the Ivory Forest Glassworks, she burns a candle for Renn at the Wagonside omnichapel simply as a gesture of gratitude, not out of any belief in Renn. However, immediately after, she and Demir Grappo agree to their equal partnership regarding the phoenix channel project, and she wonders aloud if Renn had a hand in it. She finds herself wishing for a second candle to burn at Renn's shrine, though this reflects more of her growing doubt in her disbelief of Renn rather than actual belief.
