Chronanese Calendar

In the faith of the Gods of Time and Order, eight is a holy number that encompasses everything. There are 24 hours in a day, 8 days in a week, 40 days in a month, and in a year there are 320 days, 40 weeks and 8 months. All time is divisible by eight, which is also the amount of the true gods. The weekdays and months are also named after the eight gods in the calendar used in Chronan.

Ages

The calendar counts years since the gathering of the Eight Prophets when the Steaming Age is thought to have begun, following the Ashen Age that came before it. The Ashen Age was the long and harsh period of time that started when a meteor known as The Fellstar struck the world. The ancient era before the meteor is often referred to as the Gilded Age or the Warring Age, depending on the source, and the times before written history are known as the Primal Age.

Clock

The Chronanese clockface is divided into eight segments representing hours. One hour is made of 64 minutes, so each segment in the clockface contains 8 minutes. During a full day, the hour hand of the clock spins a full circle three times. The first eight hours in a day are known as Morningtime (MT), the next eight hours as Noontime (NT) and the last eight hours as Eveningtime (ET). Midday is at 4 NT, and midnight is at 8 ET, after which a new day is counted to begin. Many clocks have a special mechanism that show which round it is currently on, helpful to those who work indoors or underground.
