Beastmen/Beastfolk
The Beastmen are a large varying group of animal-like humanoids. They are one of the major four groups of sentients that make up the populations of Gaia. Unlike the other races, the beastfolk maintain their animalistic appearances in most occasions. They also tend to hang onto tradition and tribal tendencies and adapt them to the current time. TRhese races tend to have been more tribal than the humans or mer and for far longer. Thier customs are sometimes both fascinating or questionable.
Like humans, the beastfolk have subgroups depending on what type of animal they have evolved from.
Mammals
The most basic of the beastfolk, fall under anything that has fur and able to fall under the description of a mammal. Most beastfolk fall under the Mammal category.Reptilian
Reptilian beastfolk are the second most common type of beastfolk seen on Gaia. These are lizard-like or have the attributes of a reptile. They are cold blooded, however certain reptilian races have since evolved to survive cold environments. They also knwo well to prepare for trecks into cold regions by properly preparing, or using magic and other means to keep warm.Avian
The Avian subgroup is one of the fewest and rarest of beastfolk. Related to prehistoric animals of the past, akin to Saurian reptilians. These are bird-like, flight or flightless races that make up this group. They usually bare feathers and at times brightly colored plummage. They can survive in the warmest or the coldest regions of Gaia.Abberations
The title of an Aberration beastfolk is a beastman that does not fit in the established main three categories. These are often animal-like creatures that can not fit into the families above, or are unlike anything seen before. At times aberrations are seen as outcasts, or unwelcomed, however this also largely depends on what race they are and what they have done in the history of Gaia.
