Easthaven

Walking into Easthaven is like stepping into Icewind Dale’s past—the place is a living example of the boomtown way of life that gripped all of Ten-Towns centuries ago. In the generations since, as other towns have settled into a predictable pattern of existence, Easthaven has continued to grow and reinvent itself. After the Eastway was paved, Easthaven evolved into a frontier traders’ paradise, fueling the jealousy of its neighbors.   Easthaven’s founders were thieves from the Duchy of Cape Velen, on a peninsula far to the south. They refused to kowtow to a powerful thieves’ guild and were driven out. To this day, Easthaven honors its shady founders by declaring pickpocketing legal within the town limits—which explains the “Watch thy pouch!” signs posted in various local establishments.   Easthaven's boom led to the city becoming wide and spread out. Building within a confining wall was unthinkable. Newcomers prefer making their own houses instead of restoring existing ones, leaving the town with many abandoned buildings throughout. Compared to other towns in the region, Easthaven folk are relatively young, but their dreams of a prosperous future came to an abrupt halt with Auril's winter. Similar to Bryn Shander, the townsfolk are cosmopolitan, with people from many backgrounds found here.   With a solid trade route to Bryn Shander, Easthaven is a burgeoning center of Ten-Towns life. Located along the southern shore of Lac Dinneshere, Easthaven is home to a sizable fleet of fishing boats.   Easthaven attracts all kinds of people and welcomes them with open arms. The inhabitants range from honest, simple folk to the best of con-artists.   All sorts of Weapons and Adventuring Gear can be found in the marketplace or select shops.   After the Eastway was constructed, taverns and inns became the most lucrative businesses in town. Visitors can always find a comfortable place to stay or dine.
