Targos

Like Bryn Shander, Targos is encircled by a wooden wall, which helps to protect the town against orcs and other threats from the wilderness. The wall extends out into the lake, creating a safe harbor for the town’s boats. But now Auril’s long winter has frozen the water in the harbor, and many of Targos’s boats are trapped in the ice. Fishers must drag their smaller vessels across the ice to get to the unfrozen lake beyond the harbor walls.   Targos was a sprawling town with uncluttered streets. The buildings had breathing space, being separated by wide avenues. This, however, changed about a decade ago, when Targos became abuzz with commerce and industry that brought the city's expansion. The newer inhabitants started to construct shacks beyond the city's wooden walls and the town threatened to grow beyond them before long.   Targos's nights were always quiet as the fishers went to bed early, in order to be ready for the next day's early rise. But these days, far too many stay together in taverns, depressed by the ice wrapped around thier boats.       Naerth Maxildanarr, formerly of Luskan, moved to Targos a couple of years ago, took up residence in the Luskan Arms, and spread around a lot of gold, earning the loyalty of many local fishers. His cordial, down-to-earth demeanor contributed to his swift rise to power, enabling him to replace a town speaker who was well liked but didn’t want the job anymore.

Geography

The city sits on the southernmost shore of the Maer Dualdon, in a cove near a series of high cliff walls that shelters its port from the savage winter winds.
