Food Of Our World
Our world has foods mainly based on foods and ingredients that you may have seen in your world. A lot of these may seem quite familiar, but some may be used in new, creative and unique ways. Here is a list of random foods that may or may not appear in Big Book of Lame Jokes and DANGER COMIC:
Food items
Common food staples
- Eggs - Eggs are a very important part of mole’s diet. Our world uses peacock eggs that can be eaten by themselves or used as an ingredient in many other foods, especially baked goods. The eggs are so important to our people that they celebrate Egg Day each year.
- Cereal - One of the most important staples of our diet. It can be eaten as it, with milk, or it can be used as an ingredient in different recipes. Read more about it here.
- Milk - Ok this one could go under drinks, but it's really often more of a food ingredient than straight up just drink. This can be plant milk, cow milk, or geep milk.
- Nuts - Peanuts, cashews, almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, etc... These are popular as a snack, ingredient or addition to different meals, and some of the most common food staples in our diet
- Seeds - Similar to nuts, they can be used as a snack, an addition or an ingredient, and cen be used to make other things such as oil.
- Fruits and flowers - These are more specifically eaten by fairies, but mole people like them to as a snack or an ingredient for other dishes.
Bready
- Rice and Corn wafers - An important food staple of our world. They’re often used in place of bread and eaten with different sweet and savory toppings, but they can be eaten just as they are. They are popular because they last a long time, and are easy to make even at home. You can read more about them here.
- Crispbread - Another bread replacement like rice and corn wafers. They’re crunchy and delicious and can be made from many different grains. They are good for a light snack with a variety of toppings.
- Bready baked goods - Bread, bagels, croissants, breakfast muffins and more! Moles love their bread, especially the freshly baked, warm and crunchy X3
Snacks
- Popcorn - A simple and popular snack that can be mixed with a variety of savory or sweet ingredients. Salt, butter, caramel and chocolate are some of the most popular ones, but popcorn is also featured as an ingredient for muffins in [that one episode].
- Chips - Potato, corn, rice? Something else? Flavored or plain? We have it all. You can eat it alone, as a snack, with a dip or as an ingrediant for other dishes! Chips is always a classic popular choice when you're hungry
Sweets
- Cake - Of course there’s cake, everyone loves a good cake every once in a while. These cakes can be anything, chocolate, vanilla, any kind of nut flavored and even fruit and flower ones for fairies. - Ice Cream - In the hot climates of our world, ice cream is always a popular and welcome treat for everyone. Ice cream is sold in Ice Cream Stands that come up with many refreshing and creative flavors.
- Cotton Candy, Cotton - A sweet desert made of sugar, especially popular with fairies. Another version for moth fairies also exists that's just cotton
- Donuts - That's a thing, there's many different varieties of donuts, from simple powdered ones to elaborately decorated with other kinds of sweets
- Peach mousse - A peach that seems to be more orb shaped and with a thicker and harder shell is used for this tasty desert. The round fruit is hollowed out, and its insides are made into a fine mousse that kinda tastes like what soap smells like - sweet and peachy yet also a bit milky. Mousse is served in the hollowed out shell of the fruit. The dessert is especially popular with fairies.
Ingredients
- Flour - Flour is an important ingredient of many baked goods, and some other foods as well. Different crop plants can produce different types of flours, that can be used for all kinds of purposes. All of these flours are given names, so that people are better able to tell them apart. For example, the flour named Matthew is the best one for bread, Sofia is your standard wheat flour perfect for waffles, pancakes and the likes, Margaret is made of a mixture of different crops, while Gregory is mixed with different kinds of seeds, prefect for whole grian baked goods.
- Honey - A popular sweet addition to food. You can add it to your drinks, baked sweets, eat it with bread and butter or use it in any other way. Keep in mind that all of our honey is actually fairy pee. You can read more about honey and its production here.
- Mayo - It's a good thing to add to your foods, but don't eat it out of a jar with a spoon! Or do, if that's what you're into.
- Shult - Is it sugar? Is it salt? It's both! Moles love this mixture of sweet and satly, and use it to add to all sorts of foods.
- Nut butters - Nuts can be used to make a variety of nut butters as well - peanut, cashew, almond, hazelnut, walnut butter and more are popular as bread spreads, dips, ingredients for sauces and all sorts of dishes.
- Chocolate butters - Same as nuts, cocoa can be used to make more chocolaty spreads. Similar to nut butters, these can be chunky with bits of chocolate, cookies, other nuts or other additions.
- Fruit spreads - Fruits can as well be made into jams, marmelads and sauces that can be used as a bread spread or an ingredient to other dishes.
- Cinnamon - “People love cinnamon. It should be on tables at restaurants along with salt and pepper. Anytime anyone says, ‘Oh This is so good. What's in it?’ The answer invariably comes back: cinnamon. Cinnamon. Again and again.”
