Cereal Sandwich and the strange tale of its creation

Dietary preferences of mole people

With our diet consisting primarily of things such as cereals, grains, seed and nuts, one might think our choices are somewhat restricted. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. Our people like to get creative with the variety of ingredients our hard working farmers of Fairy Gardens and Ä+*4˜ produce. Especially popular choice among people is one or the other sandwich from a wide variety of different combinations. Peanut butter and toast, slice of dark bread between two slices of white bread, a chocolate bar between two pieces of crisp bread or any other combination you can imagine is sure to satisfy your midday hunger. Meanwhile, some more fanatic keyboard warriors debate to this day whether a cake wtith a layer of filling counts as a sandwich or not.

How the idea for cereal sandwich came about

This isn’t about any of those sandwiches, however. This is about a specific kind of sandwich that took strangely long to get invented. This is a sandwich that consists of wholegrain bread with hazelnut or chocolate spread and a type of rice and wheat cereal.
The most interesting thing about this sandwich might just be it’s creation. Officially Nina, one of the notable residents of our world, takes the credit for coming up with the idea for it first, but in reality she didn’t think of it all on her own. Not at all.

It was on a warm summer day, in the month of High Summer perhaps, when Nina decided to get a drink in her kitchen. A nice glass of cold lemonade with ice cubes is a perfect refreshment on a hot day like this. Fresh lemons from north Fairy Gardens make for a delicious and refreshing beverage. But this is not what we’re here for. We’re here for what happens next.
As Nina was right in the middle of pouring herself a glass of lemonade, she heard a familiar voice calling her name. There he was, her imaginary companion, Clown. He stood there, right outside the window - nevermind that Nina’s kitchen is on the third floor of the building. It wasn’t the most unusual place he showed up at, making one or the other anxiety inducing comment that was sure to get Nina to question her reality. But today it was different. Clown came with a unique idea that would undoubtedly interest her. You see, Nina is known among her friends as a bit of a foodie and quite a sweet tooth, which is why Clown’s suggestion was perfect for her.
Ignoring her concerns about him being outside of a 3rd floor window, he proceeded to tell her with the great idea he just had. What Nina should do is take two slices of bread, put some chocolate spread on both and add some of that delicious rice and wheat cereal for a delicious crunchy sandwich.
Out of all the strange things Clown ever said to her, this one sounded pretty good. So, Nina looked around the kitchen for the ingredients and made the suggested sandwich. Unsurprisingly it turned out to be quite delicious. Since that day, she has made these sandwiches many times for her family. She tried a few different variations of it as well, with different kinds of bread and hazelnut spread, and while they all were quite delectable, the best is still the original recipe, with wholegrain bread, chocolate spread and rice and wheat cereal.

Cereal sandwich greets the world

On one occasion she even got a chance to talk about her invention on a TV show at Town Square, but she would have been well advised to not mention Clown in her story of the creation of the sandwich. Many people have tried to make the said sandwich though, and incorporated it in their daily diets. She will prepare these sandwiches again for tomorrow’s Lanternfest, a monthly fair which will this month revolve around food. She is planning on entering the contest for the best original recipe, so the best of luck to her!
