Scylla

One of the Ten Houses of the Kingdom of Accia and another strong influence. Like many of the noble families, they have a particularly rare racial magic, Lishil's Body. Much like the Espina family, this grants them a link akin to a familiar but this is far far more intimate a bond. They bond to a creature they share their name with, a Scylla—this is a particular kind of sea monster. They also inherit a specific blessing from Vekaltor, the Aethid of Storms, which allows them to craft or manipulate whirlpools, depending on which kind they inherit. These abilities have left them absolutely unrivaled in aquatic combat. Because of this, they have acted as the guardians and rulers over the Sea Isles for generations.

As far as alliances, the Scylla House is closest to the Espina and Morozov Houses. These two are avid trade partners and they rely on the Scylla to oversee, facilitate and even guard the trade routes. They do so with an iron fist, otherwise handling all conquest by sea. No one rivals them in aquatic battle. They have also recently made deals with and taken in "apprentices" from outside lands, going so far as to raise powerful individuals themselves through adoption. Setia Scylla is an excellent example of this, an orphan of the pirate queen in Vekaltor's Isles raised alongside their heir, Adamantia Scylla as one of their own. The Scylla have a strong relationship with the Minx family as well, especially as they gained control of so many lands in Yaxiya and have come to rely on the same protection for trade yet they still had ties thanks to the large island off of the coast of the Tenebrous Chain. Both the Minx and Scylla are starkly opposed to the ill practice of the Chevalier in their beast taming, once Evelyn Minx exposed this.

The Scylla call the Sea Isles home for untold generations. They originally guarded Accia when it was still home to the Erlithmanil, moored at the largest isle of the region. Now they oversee the waters running between Eluziar and Yaxiya. Their only true threat are the pirates which call the Festering Peninsula home. It was the iron fist of the Scylla and their intolerance of corruption amid their waters that drove the pirate king to succeed from the kingdom, or at least that's the popular story. Some still question the humanity of the Scylla, wondering if being bonded to such a monstrous beast has left them too vicious, too fond of beasts and apathetic to humanity. A popular assumption toted by the Chevalier, finding their bold and ferocious female warriors distasteful. Their current heir, Adamantia, is particularly bubbly, frightful and unpredictable.

Both of these families and the regions they control rely on each other extensively. The Espina control the port town and the gates to the the valley itself while the Scylla oversee, facilitate and actively protect the nautical trade routes of the eastern coast. This is a beating heart of the kingdom, which is such an agricultural powerhouse.

The Scylla and Minx already had a healthy relationship, aiding each other in resisting the pirates plaguing the coast and frequent partners in trade. This alliance was most recently strengthened when Evelyn exposed the maltreatment of beasts by the Chevalier, something the Scylla family cannot abide (relying on their beast familiars extensively and occasionally valuing this relationship over human ones). They work together extensively to uproot animal abuse and poaching through Evelyn's charities and beast keeping organization.
