University of Pegrama
The University of Pegrama is the preeminent institute of higher learning in the Kingdom of Alsona. Originally established in 216 AF as a shared location for the Alsonan city states to share military and technical knowledge against impending Shin invasion, it withstood the war that came. Today, it is half religious site, and half educational facility, offering a wide variety of means of learning and knowledge, while revering the name of the King and his Host.
Structure
The head of the University is known as the Kyrios, or Master, of the entire establishment. He or she is traditionally appointed by the Queen of Alsona to oversee the affairs of the university and its subordinate colleges. As the university grew over the centuries, it has been divided into subordinate colleges, each headed by a different Ploiarchos. These individuals are selected from among the professorial staff by the Kyrios, who chooses ideally based upon merit, but often in reality, due to political connections. The Ploiarchos oversee the day to day affairs of the colleges, which are in order of size: the College of Music, the College of Faith, the College of Arts, and the College of Mathematics.
Public Agenda
The University of Pegrama stands for the continued worship of the King's Host, and the training of clerics and bards to glorify his name. The University takes no role in the politics of Alsona, simply being a place where people can be trained in the worship of the gods and some other high education. They are more or less an extension of the royal family's authority, demonstrating a key location for learning financed by the state of Alsona.
Assets
The University of Pegrama has several square city blocks of campus in Pegrama itself. These are nearby one of the markets, allowing easy access for reagents and materials required for campus experiments and learning. The University itself is granted a budget from the national taxes collected, allocated by the Queen of Alsona. The funds of the University are carefully accounted for by the government, which regulates all further possessions obtained onto the campus through archaeology or experimentation.
