House Tassou
House Tassou is an Alsonan noble house that is known for its influence and position in The Patridaxos. Although its lands were ravaged during the Wingo War, the house has managed to cut its losses and survive. Even before the war, the fortunes of the region had been declining, reliant heavily upon trade with the Shin Empire and the Wingo Mine. These avenues were cut off over the past few decades, and the taxes collected by the Tassous has fallen dramatically. Nonetheless, they continue to retain popularity among the working classes, a source of much resentment from other noble families who have seen their position since the war decline considerably.
Public Agenda
The leaders of House Tassou in recent decades have earned the loyalty of the working people by advocating constantly for the improvement of their status. The house has stood firm against pogroms as a means of controlling dissent, and has loudly condemned efforts to corral or round up half-elves in Alsonan society. Although this led to bandied accusations of treason during the Wingo War, the recruitment of half-elf spies by the House proved the value of this underclass in Alsona. Today, the house continues to advocate for the lifting of restrictions upon half-elves and increased public works projects to improve roads and sewage systems in the region.
Assets
The territories surrounding the towns of Makriathea and Etheridge are mostly owned by House Tassou, with lands leased out to local farmers. Unfortunately, most of the wealth of the region was dramatically diminished during the Wingo War, and the levies of the house were equally drained, leaving the Tassous with only a limited amount of financial and military assets. What remains is a very modest treasury and only a handful of servants and guards, who are extremely loyal to the family's matriarch and deemed by many to be incorruptible.
