Asimi College of Magic

The Asimi College of Magic is the only institution that offers education in the ways of magic in the Kingdom of Alsona. They offer a variety of courses from skilled wizards and arcane practitioners, many of whom are veterans of the Alsonan Rangers. The College refrains from politics and religious matters in Alsona, instead focusing on providing the best education for those who seek to understand arcane magic, and wield these gifts responsibly. It is of course located within the town of Asimi in the Kingdom of Alsona.

Structure

The College of Magic is overseen by an Archmage, a wizard of great power and skill. From the position of the archmage, power extends to the lower ranks of wizards, primarily through the Professorial Council. This council consists of all of the department heads and professors, and is responsible for selecting new department heads and successors to the position of archmage. The college of magic is divided into the following departments, each of which have their own head, who is considered the undisputed master of that particular craft: enchantment, transmutation, evocation, abjuration, divination, and sorcery.

Public Agenda

The college for the most part refrains from participation in political and religious disputes in the Kingdom of Alsona or indeed, any realm of Emicara. They are expressly intended to help educate and train the next generations of wizards and sorcerers in Alsona. That said, they have made pushes to make the practice of necromancy illegal in the Kingdom of Alsona, while simultaneously persecuting those who have been granted their power by other beings. These warlocks, according to the college, are dangerous servants of beings intent on undermining the very foundations of Emicara.

Assets

The college possesses only a handful of land holdings and material goods. They have two main campuses, one within the town of Asimi itself where most of its students and staff live, and the other along the rim of Lake Kentriko. The more remote campus is meant mostly for sorcerers and others who have had a hard time containing and maintaining their magic without collateral damage. The main campus also houses the College's museum, which contains replicas of known magical artifacts in order to assist students to learn how to identify the most common of magical remnants of the Nameless Empire or the creations of contemporary wizards. The college itself relies heavily upon the tuition paid by the students of wizardry that attend, but also frequently solicits donations from wealthy alumni who have achieved power from their education here.

History

The College was founded in 844 AF, by a renowned adventuring wizard named Jason Pollard. He was an incredibly charismatic wizard who had achieved success in numerous quests and goals throughout the Kingdom of Alsona, earning himself many political allies. He was able to leverage these alliances into a grant of land within the town of Asimi and along Lake Kentriko, turning what was originally meant to be a lavish retirement estate for himself into a thriving magical college. He recruited some of the finest wizards and spellcasters he had met in his adventurers to staff his new institute of learning, bringing them in to assist. The doors of the College of Magic were opened to any who sought out the power of magic, and most students were initially the noble scions of the wealthy of Alsona, and even some from the Shin Empire. The college thrived.   Over the past two centuries, the College has become ingrained as part of life in Alsona, and is considered the finest institution for higher learning of anything relating to magic. Although the University of Pegrama is a larger campus and retains its own program of magic, its specialization into magic by music has allowed the College of Asimi to continue on without issue. The College's neutrality in the Wingo War was a matter of some discontent, and this has cost the College in Alsonan applicants, which has caused the college to start seeking out new means of support, through archaeology and by recruiting new applicants from among the dwarves of Valtkos Wingo.
