Conino Tribe
The Conino Tribe is considered one of the most gregarious and outgoing tribes in the Sypi Confederacy. Before the closure of the border with the Shin Empire, they were well known to be the foremost traders in Shin relics and technologies. Today, they reside in and around the town of Smitlaw, and frequently travel along the Smitlaw to Grenadd Road, offering their trades and services all the while. They also possess a resort along the same road, where travelers and gamblers are welcome to visit, for a relaxing stay.
Structure
The Conino tribe is headed by an advisory Council of Families, but true power rests in the hands of the tribe's chief. The chief is the final say on legal and diplomatic issues, and is the driving force for any initiatives that take place within the tribe. The chief is selected through a process called the Duels of Cunning, in which a candidate must display their guile and skill for subterfuge in several different challenges against other candidates. This all takes place upon the death of the prior chief. An individual within the tribe can challenge a chief to a new Duel of Cunning, in which the two match off against in each other in what is often called by outsiders to be a deadly war of pranks.
Public Agenda
The Coninos have loudly advocated for the expansion of infrastructure and the end of raids upon the Sypi Confederacy's neighbors. They believe that trade should be reopened, and that the Confederacy should be more concerned about the events, or lack thereof, taking place inside the Shin Empire. They have expressed that a need for modernization of the financial and economic systems of the Confederacy is required, and are consistently opposed to the Charki Tribe.
Demography and Population
The Conino Tribe is nearly entirely human, but they are always welcoming to outsiders who display a talent for cunning or economics. Therefore the Coninos have often welcomed fresh blood of several races into their tribe. This has led to a small minority of half-orcs, half-elves, and dwarves within the tribe. These individuals have helped enriched the tribe as a whole over centuries, and are often well respected, though none of these individuals have ever become chief of the tribe.
