Sypi Unitary Brigade

The Sypi Unitary Brigade was a military organization that was formed during the course of the Sypi Civil War. The sheer amount of mercenary and regular forces being sent from the Church of the One Sun  and the states neighboring the Confederacy to the south made Quico Bienombe realize that simply relying upon tribal levies would be unsustainable. He therefore declared the formation of the Unitary Brigade, welcoming volunteers from any race or settlement to serve in the forces arrayed against the Church and its Sihka puppets.

Structure

The Sypi Unitary Brigade is headed up by a Commander who is the absolute authority over all matters within the unit. He or she answers only to the High Chief of the Sypi Confederacy, but will listen to influential members of the community of Wofslar. The Unitary Brigade is organized as a rigid military force, particularly when compared to the tribal levies of the rest of the Confederate tribes. The Commander is in charge of authorizing appointments and promotions for anyone within his service. Individuals under his command often have delegated power, particularly when it comes to enforcing the laws and defenses of Wofslar against criminals and outsiders.

Public Agenda

The Unitary Brigade is mostly focused on the preservation of law and order in the city of Wofslar. Despite some concerns that they would seek further war with the Confederacy's neighbors to finance themselves, they instead now frequently collect fines from community members for violation of the law. They claim to seek an orderly society, but typically seek out any opportunity to inflict fines and taxes upon the populace.

Assets

The Unitary Brigade consists of a stated limited of four hundred warriors, including officers and administrators. They are well armed and equipped, having retained the spoils of the conflict during the civil war. Despite the age of the weapons and armor seized from the Church and the Sihka, they are still very viable devices of war. The Unitary Brigade maintains constant training programs and elite forces within their own ranks, including those trained in spycraft and scouting to help watch enemies. They also keep a surprisingly large amount of gold and wealth on hand for payment of their forces, a pile that accumulates thanks to the rising fines being placed upon unlawful actions in Wofslar. Finally, they maintain a large fortified compound just outside of the Wofslar town limits, not quite a castle in construction, but still with a wall and large training center for new recruits.

Demography and Population

Unlike the tribal forces of the Sypi Confederacy, the Unitary Brigade welcomes people from all ethnic groups and races. The entire force is made up of volunteers from both across the Confederacy and other parts of Emicara. Numerous volunteers had been interested in fighting the Church to begin with, and while many of these recruits have retired in the years since the war, others have remained. Dwarves, gnomes, elves, and numerous others all fight side by side as part of the Brigade.
