Lukas Volnami

Lukas Volnami is a merfolk born to the king and queen of the Sorrel Kingdom, and due to their merfolk and witch heritage, Lukas is a very rare sub species of the merfolk. For their whole life, Lukas has only know the challenges of war and has feared the destruction of their people. Lukas' younger half-brother, Kai Volnami is one of the few people Lukas wishes to see again since becoming an Exotic Pet to Crown Prince Kěith Cheonsa, who is also Lukas' current lover.

Lukas Volnami: "So, you're the new guy. Guess Kěith couldn't resist bringing home another stray."

Lukas has a sassy mouth that often gets themself into trouble. If someone is annoying them, they'll be a smart aleck and pull off a prank in a sassy manner. While they know they are not the smartest person in the world, Lukas is still knowledgable. Being raised as the crown prince of the Sorrel Kingdom has given them benefits that most commoners don't get. Lukas cares deeply about lower class citizens and usually tries to help them.
Yet, when it comes to slaves, Lukas makes a notion that they want slavery abolished, whether in their kingdom or in another empire. Seeing Kěith fight to end Exotic Pets has only confirmed how much care Kěith has for those around him. Lukas has taken that to heart and become protective of Kěith, as well as the other Exotic Pets in Kěith's care. Lukas will gladly draw someone's anger toward themself when another person is in danger, whether that danger be physical or verbal. They cannot stand the mere thought of another person being put in danger.

It was late in the evening one glimmercrest day back in Floduz 2011 EoL when Lukas talked their girlfriend, Skjótr Grimfeather, into going swimming with them near the port of Lomiraki. A nasty storm rolled in, stirring up the waters of Eideen Bay. Lukas and Skjótr were separated as Lukas was dragged down the Winter's Kiss River, where large, jagged rocks. The rocks tore at Lukas' fin, leaving a horrid gash on their left hip. As the river slowed down, Lukas pulled themself to a shallow section, not realizing it was small waterfall due to the blood loss. During this time, Lukas came to believe that Skjotr was killed in the storm.
Lukas woke up dazed and confused, unable to move due to their tail being flayed. The wound was deep, down to the bone. They laid half in the water, and half on the dry land when the sounds of footsteps approached. To Lukas' surprise, it was the Crown Prince of the Itude Empire. Kěith ordered his bodyguard, Syus Nightingale, to patch up the merman's tail while Kěith gently calmed Lukas down. With Lukas believing their death was imminent, they used their water magick to fight back. Quickly, Syus stepped in, pointing his sword at Lukas' throat, forcing Lukas to surrender. Kěith explained that a patrol party would be crossing the bridge above the waterfall and the only way to keep Lukas alive would be to collar them and claim he captured Lukas. Lukas reluctantly agreed and waited for Kěith to clasp a steel collar around Lukas' neck. Kěith also used his dagger and coated in Lukas' blood to further insinuate that he captured Lukas.

Appearance

Lukas appears as a tall, slender male with caramel beige skin and jade green eyes, with shaggy brown hair brushed back from his face. The shape of his face is heartshaped with narrow cheekbones and a pointed chin. On his left hip is a long gash from the injury in the Winter's Kiss River. A few extra scars remain from battling various Salirenians, and a couple are from when Lukas begin their training with Skjotr on how to handle land or air battles. Lukas' parents are not too please with the injuries, yet Kěith finds them attractive and proves how loyal Lukas is to the cause of defending others. After getting captured, he received a few more once he pissed off a guard kicking a child Exotic Pet.
When Lukas takes on his merfolk appearance, he has glittery green and yellow scales that travel up his arms and shoulders. His tail is different. While a merfolk doesn't turn when they get wet, they only transform after being the water and focusing on the shift. Yet, the scales on their arms, shoulders, and legs can appear if they use water magick. With Lukas, the scales of their tail are green, yellow, and black, following a pattern of spots and stripes, while the fins are a deep kelp green. Their eyes change to a sickly yellow and have a third-eyelid over them to protect salt and other bacteria from entering Lukas' eyes.

History

Born into the royal family has its perks, but Lukas has only ever know strife and struggling to maintain the status quo among their people. They spent the first half of their life studying the different types of war and how best to combat the Itude Empire. This brought them to the Flight Academy, where they met Skjótr Grimfeather, who became their girlfriend after a few weeks of staying there. Lukas trained hard, wanting to put an end to the war. Every chance he got, he would protest the war to his parents and even General Altair Lux, but none of it got through to them.

  Introducing Lucas Volnami

While swimming in Eideen Bay, Lukas got separated from their girlfriend during one of their many dates ashore. The storm that separated them caused Lukas to be thrown around through the river, slashing their hip and tearing a deep gash into it. This left Lukas immobilized and unable to call for help as they were too far away from the sea. Kěith happened upon them shortly after returning a young rare golden wolf back to his pack. The Itudean Army was busy searching through the area and once they spotted their Crown Prince, they almost killed Lukas for what they was. Kěith protected them and announced that he had "captured" ther merfolk, which was the only way he could protect Lukas from death. Once taken to the palace, Kěith had to explain the new rules to them and get Lukas to understand that with the empire, Lukas' rights were taken away; exotic Pets mean nothing to the vampires, so Lukas' best bet to survive is to keep their head low and pray that the guards wouldn't do anything rash.
Three months later, when the Bloodfeast was going on, Kěith got wasted and kissed Lukas, pushing Lukas into sleeping with him. The next morning, Kěith, filled with regret, apologized to Lukas for making them feel like they were nothing but a sex object, and when Lukas tried to forgive him and explain that they had feelings for Kěith as well, Kěith fled. It took a week before Lukas was able to corner Kěith and explain their feelings to the Crown Prince.
As of now, a few years later, they are dating.
