(He/Him)

Kěith Cheonsa was born the son of Emperor Vladimir Tepes and the late Empress Sin-Yeona Cheonsa. He had an older sister name Marinette Cheonsa with a younger half-sister named Léhä Tepes still supporting him and keeping him in line. At a young age, the prince went through a traumatic change that resulted in the death of many throughout the Moonlight Expanse. He strives to prove himself worthy of his father and empire, and it shows in his every word and action. The skull ring he wears on the middle finger on his right hand is a reminder of the late crown princess and is very dear to Kěith.
Kěith set down the document and looking toward Brad.

Kěith Cheonsa: "Say what you will, but I am not going to let you talk down to me. Now, answer me this one, Brad. How can you destroy a monster without first becoming one?"

Jack McClain: "Ya don’t have to kill innocents to take out a monster."

Kěith Cheonsa: "Very well, Brad, but I am confident in my own way. I’m not saying what I did was right—Hel, I know what I did was fucked up—yet, I also know that to make peace with what I did, I have to get my hands soiled in blood to end this war. If that means being a monster, then so be it. After all, happy endings don’t happen unless they end in blood."

Kěith paused and looked at his hands.

Kěith Cheonsa: Even if that is my blood…

— Wolf Bound Chapter 31 Scene Snippet

Appearance

While Kěith is under average height and build for a male vampire, he has the strength and health that match his vampire kin. He doesn't seem very muscular, using his agility to accomplish great feats that may be hard for a normal vampire, even one of the Knights. He is slightly shorter than normal for one of his species, but he tends to use this to his advantage when he can.   Being part of the royal family in the Itude Empire has honed his body and skills in a way that is very different from even the ways of a Knight and Fighter cultures, both of which are accustom to difficult lives. The lives of royal vampires and the ways in which they train are very different, and the product of that is very visible in the way he moves and fights.

Mental

Personality
Yet, Kěith is also a hopeless romantic and very caring. He puts others before himself and always seeks a way to help someone in need. His desire to do right by his people keeps him on the right track, though it barely tempers his natural pride and fierce emotions.   However, the closer his coronation gets, Kěith comes to keep his emotions closely guarded—sometimes a little too much so—and sometimes, Keith has difficulties sharing parts himself with others, choosing instead to distance himself as he feels this will make him more effective as a ruler. Unfortunately, this can make relating personally with others rather difficult, and it tends to lead him to bottle his feelings up until they become problems for him. He has a certain emotional imbalance due to this and suffers greatly from depression. In fact, he is prone to many mental breakdowns and suicidal tendencies.

He is gifted as a swordsman, a well-minded strategist, and excels at Fates Chess. For all of the Itude Empire, he is unparalleled in these fields. While he enjoys those hobbies, his main passion comes from watching Marinette draw and paint. Soon after her death, he picked up the paintbrush and began following in her footsteps, never wanting to let that piece of her go. This also allowed him to develop other art skills, such as drawing, pottery, and mapmaking.   Kěith has also picked up cooking from his time in Tong-illa. His great-uncle was considered a famous chef over there and worked hard to show Kěith the ways of the trade. Upon returning to the Itude Empire, Kěith was excited to continue learning how to cook, but this nearly went up in smoke when Vlad found out that his son liked to cook. He quickly attempted to put a stop to Kěith learning to cook from Dong-sukio, claiming that only the women in the royal family line were allowed to prepare food. In secret, Dong-sukio resumed teaching Kěith everything he knew about food. Thus, Kěith is a fantastic cook who knows many specialty dishes from Tong-illa and desires to know many more dishes from around the world.   After the abuse started and Kěith began sneaking into the Winter Pine Forest, he learned that feydragons still existed, making an effort to take care of them and restore them to their original glory.

Kěith is a sensitive person. He easily breaks as his mental health is non-existent no thanks to his father or the empire. The bouts of depression Kěith has can be singled out by the fact that not many people see the real him and accuse him of being the cause of everyone's suffering within the empire. All it takes is for someone he cares about to see him in a negative light and the voices come strolling into his mind, reminding him of what a bad person he is and how he should have never been born. Very few people know that Kěith has depressive episodes, despite the fact that he rarely feeds and barely gets two hours of sleep a night.   As a hot-head with a stubborn streak, Kěith tends to challenge his father on most things. Hel, you can probably find him challenging an Alpha if he's pushed hard enough. While he knows his temper is hard to control, he wishes he wouldn't lash out and start fights, especially with those he loves.

Since he was little, Kěith has adored cooking, which first started while he was living in Tong-illa and Dong-sukio began teaching him the ways of Tong-ilian recipes. Over time, he also developed a knack for drawing, though he grew to fear it after an incident with a hammer. Blood coffee has grown to be one thing that Kěith drinks to keep him sane due to his insomnia and recurring night terrors, as well as being around his friends.   Those he considers family are very few, such as Léhä and Dong-Sukio. His father... not so much. And while he won't let anyone else know this, Kěith loves his mate, Jack. Being around children also make him happy. He would love to adopt kids someday in the future, but the thought of being forced to have biological children scares him. He'll refuse to have any at all costs.

Kěith has always had a fear of abuse, which stemmed directly from his father's beatings. If, at any time, Kěith sees a child being abused, he'll step in and break it up. Due to the many beatings his father dealt on him, Kěith developed a fear of thunderstorms, causing him panic attacks whenever he hears or sees one.   The nobles in the empire also stress him out. They tend to put pressure on him to do right by the empire or face being humiliated and ostracized. The war can be partially to blame as everyone has their own agenda as to the way things should be run. And with the war, Kěith has grown a fear of werewolves, sensing their hatred and murderistic taste for his people.   While Kěith loves food and can spend his days cooking in the palace kitchen, he does harbor the dislike of people not liking his cooking. Sure, everyone has their tastes, but rarely gets to cook and hearing a good word once in a while would cheer him up. The other dislike with food he has is drinking blood. Vampires may need blood to survive, but Kěith can't stomach the taste or smell of blood, especially from a sapient being. Animals are much easier for him to drink from.   Having Léhä disappointed in him stems from the fact that he can't make anyone around him happy. She is the last sister he has. Losing her would be like losing the last piece of his soul and Kěith would rather die than lose her. With Léhä also being his doctor, he has a fear of psychosis due to exhibiting symptoms.

Kěith takes care of those around him, keeping them safe from the threats of the empire, or even the war. If they're children, he'll fight harder. All of his Exotic Pets are reasons as to why Kěith works tirelessly. His father personally wishes Kěith would torture his Exotic Pets instead of treating them like equals. And after buying Jack at the auction, Kěith has become more protective than ever. He actually stood up to his father in front of everybody and defended keeping Jack at his side.   However, the second he saw Krisen alone on the train, Kěith stepped in to help. Any child in need will automatically get protection from him. He finds them innocent and still easily enough to be manipulated by those around them. If he can show them that kindness exists, Kěith will do that quicker than a vampire's heart beats.   The last thing Kěith values is creating peace. The war between the Itude Empire and the Retribution Alliance has lasted his whole lifetime. War alone can wear people down, or it can drive people mad. For Kěith, he sees nothing but destruction and pain, something he wishes to eradicate with generostiy, honesty, kindness, and friendship. He is strictly loyal to cause and knows that if he must lay down his life to generate peace, he'll do so.

For as long as Kěith has lived, he has fought mental health issues, from depression to dissociative identity disorder (DID) and even post-traumatic-stress-disorder (PTSD). Kěith's DID has only expressed itself in the form of a little child and a second identity that nobody speaks about. His depression stems from people betraying him, leaving him behind, and seeing him as a problem that should go away. He always looks down upon him and absorbs all the negative things people say about him like a sponge while ignoring all the good things said about him. Kěith, honestly, believes he should have never been born; that his birth was a curse for the entire empire.   Most of the time, he can be kind and thoughtful, but when something comes up that he's determined about, nothing will change his mind. Kěith is stubborn, to say the least. He doesn't like other people telling him "no" when he can do something that will benefit others. At times, he can turn feisty when trying to get his way. During these outbursts, it is best to let Kěith do his own thing as he won't back down, not even for his mate.

Trauma
by Amelia Nite
From the time Kěith was sent to live with his mother's relatives in Tong-illa (ages 18 moons to 180 years), he ended up learning about what happened to his mother and how his father was disappointed in him. Even his mother’s relatives weren’t too happy with him, shunning him when he tried to play with his cousins. Only his Great-Uncle Dong-Sukio Cheonsa showed affection for him, knowing he was just a newborn fledgling at the time of his mother’s death.   The problems only got worse when Kěith returned home to the Itude Empire with his great-uncle and met his father and Marinette for the first time. Due to his father's neglect, Kěith was left feeling confused, not understanding why everyone in his family could hate him for an act he had no control over. This led Kěith to have anxiety attacks, withdraw from others, be easily startled, and have muscle tension. This went on for approximately 130 years, when his life was pretty much empty, save for Marinette being there. At this point, Kěith was feeling hopeless, like his life was meaningless. It wasn't until Marinette's death that Kěith truly understood why the entirety of the Itude Empire blamed him for his mother's death. This was also the time the only friend Kěith had walked out of his life by running away.

Name Meaning

Normally, Kěith translates to "wood/forest" or "from the battleground," while his last name, Cheonsa means "angel." In Tong-iliaean, Kěith translates to "kiss." So, his name roughly means "kiss of the angel" if translated from Tong-iliaean. Otherwise, his name would mean "angel of the battleground."

Sun Magick

Ever since he was a little boy, Kěith has shown the ability to use sun magick, or what others would dub-down to sun magick. The truth is, Kěith's magick of fire, heat, and passion comes from the light magick Tryoh, Fate of Magick uses. The only other person who knows this is Léhä, and she tries to convince him to stop what he's doing if he values what is left of his life. If the empire were to learn of his magickal abilities, Kěith would be punished. It is unknown what the prince's punishment would be, just known that it would be gruesome.
Children
Due to Marinette's death, Kěith blamed himself and when his father turned to physical abuse shortly after Kěith turned 311, Kěith let it happen, even if his great-uncle defended him and attempted to smuggle him out of the empire late one winter night, where they were caught and Kěith was beaten again for putting the empire in "danger."   Now, fast forward 213 years later when Kěith had developed insomnia mixed with night terrors if he attempted to sleep. All of this led to fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and his other psychological and physical symptoms (anxiety attacks, withdraw from others, be easily startled, and have muscle tension) increasing, which left Kěith with major depression and dissociative identity disorder (DID).   At 283-years-old, Kěith was drawing and caught by his father, who took him to a special room, blindfolded him, and placed Kěith's right hand on a rubber mat on a table. Kěith stood there, unsure of what was happening when he heard a crack and a sharp pain. Yanking his hand back and tearing off the blindfold, Kěith saw his father smirking at him with a metal hammer in hand. The knowledge of his father punishing him for drawn left an impact to the point Kěith chose to never draw again.   After Mari's passing, Kěith was found singing and his father broke Kěith's windpipe as a punishment. Even though Kěith couldn't speak for a while, he remained frightful to sing ever again after his windpipe healed.   With singing and drawing out of the picture, Kěith turned to cooking with his great-uncle, Dong-Sukio Cheonsa. He enjoyed the peaceful act of sitting back and cooking for hours until his father saw Kěith and pulled him away with a threat. Kěith was then forced to drink "rotten blood" for a week, which ultimately left Kěith sick for three weeks. The torment of his father's punishment once again left Kěith giving up his last favorite hobby. Dong-sukio didn't agree with what happened to Kěith and eventually convinced Keith to not give up cooking.
Motivation
Kěith's only reason to get out of bed anymore is that he knows the only way to stop the war is by becoming Emperor, a job he despises. He only wants peace, which seems impossible from his point-of-view. Thanks to his Exotic Pets, Kěith has now gained enough confidence to take on the twisted path of being the emperor and ending the war as peacefully as he can. His first job? Being forced to marry a vampiress to rise to the throne.

Born on Biwid 25th of 1492 EoL, Kěith was blessed under the Church of Darkness. His parents loved him deeply, spoiling him at every opportunity. Six months after his birth, Sin-yeona was slain by a large group of werewolves, rendering Vlad with a twisted rage toward revenge. The agonizing pain of losing his wife sent Vlad into a state of histeria, where he could no longer see his son. Banishing Kěith to the country of Tong-illa, the young prince was raised by his Great Uncle Dong-Sukio Cheonsa, who sought to give Kěith the best life he could have ever had.   For Kěith, however, his mama is a mystery. He knows little to nothing about his mother, save for the stories his Tong-ilian side of the family would tell. His only protection was his elder sister, Marinette, who kept him away from their contemptible father, Emperor Vladimir Tepes, who saw him as nothing more than a shoddy excuse of a son. As Kěith always asked questions about his mother, Vlad was quick to consider Kěith a failure. Marinette, the only daughter of the emperor at the time, was the only shot at trying to grace the family name; Vlad needed her to take the throne as the powerful Empress he saw her to become; not some pansy boy and worthless trash.   In 1776, when Kěith was only 284-years-old, he learned that he was to have a younger half-sister. This led to plenty of confusion on his behalf, not understanding why his father would want to be with anyone else if his soulmate was Sin-yeona. This was the year Léhä was born. Kěith would grow to be very protective of his younger sister, vowing to never let anything happen to her as it did with Marinette.

When the fateful night of Marinette's death at the hands of the werewolves occurred (Kruqesk 14th, 1802 EoL), Kěith began to blame himself for the horrible incident. He hated himself for it. He tortured himself for it. His sister's death was his fault. She died because he wanted to play in the snow. He believed it should have been him that died out there, not her, for she was innocent in every way.   When the fateful night of Marinette's death at the hands of the werewolves occurred (Kruqesk 14th, 1802 EoL), Kěith began to blame himself for the horrible incident. He was surprised that Syus Nightingale was his bodyguard for roughly 69 years. Disgusted by what had happened during the time his memory was gone, Kěith began to work hard on backtracking everything he did. Only then did he find out that his father was wanting him to marry a vampiress as quickly as possible to secure an heir for the line.   As of the past seven years, Kěith has tried everything to change what history he has written. He wishes nothing more than to right his wrongs and end the war as peacefully as he can.
