The Depot
Once built to be the headquarters for the Somnium Reach PDF, The Depot was the focus of the first ork assault, leading to local military forces having to flee, and thus leaving the building to the greenskins.
With that first assault much was lost, General Garrett, then-head of the Planetary Defence Force, as well as the main bulk of the PDF's armoury, had fallen before either could be saved. With this, almost all PDF soldiers were left with their standard equipment or whatever else they could scavenge from the surrounding area.
As a key tactical stronghold, the grand fortress has been a point of interest for local forces ever since its loss. Efforts have been made to reclaim the building since before the war ended, but with little success.
New Owners
Some time after its abandonment, a radical sect of the Planetary Defence Force, born from a schism of military ideologies, reclaimed the Depot to continue their work. This force refers to itself as the Somnium Reclamation Force (SRF). Initially, this split came about after Captain Al Sorret declared that the lives of the civilian population should be secondary to the complete eradication of the ork forces across Somnium Reach, and that any weapon, no matter how severe, should be used in ensuring their complete eradication. Even after the eradication of the ork warboss, hostilities between the PDF and SRF continue, and with the SRF having access to the full planetary armoury of the Depot, little can be done to stop them. All diplomatic standings thus far have failed and with the organizations growing aggression against any force that stands in their way, local PDF forces have taken to simply avoiding the Depot and any surrounding lands.Heavy Firepower
Aside from its well stocked armoury and sturdy fortress walls, the Depot the planets entire collection of military vehicles within an underground facility known as the Wheelhouse. In an act of final desperation, in order to stop the ork forces from de-sanctifying the vehicles within, General Garrett sealed the Wheelhouse to be unable to be opened by anyone of lower rank than himself. For this reason, the Wheelhouse and its armaments go unclaimed.Alterations
Since its reclamation by the SRF, the Depot has been partially rebuilt and expanded.
Alongside the rebuilding and expansion of the western port, several lookout towers and weapons encampments have been set out across the Depot's grounds. Further to this, it appears that efforts have begun to expand into and potentially open a path through the southern cliff walls. If completed it is theorized these tunnel networks would allow direct access to Catrakas Secondis, though their reasoning behind such efforts is as yet unknown.
