Optus Surcus Settlement in Confederate States of Earth | World Anvil

Optus Surcus (Oph-tus Cir-cus)

Always Vanish

The trio arrived at the Optus Surcus. It was full of metals yet full of life. Thousands if not million of ships came and went like a flock of seagulls. Upon touching the landing pad, security guards come in to check their ship for any suspectious objects. Mortis and Franklin were cleared. Rubin was succumbing to questions. And BETTY temporary unresponsed herself hiding her sentience.

The de facto headquarter of Farland Company, this starbase gather all the traders from around the galaxy to trade, stockplie, and rest. The only way to find this place is through entrusting registered traders. They can bring you to the place. However, once you commit a great crime, they would not hesitate to teach you a lesson.

Defences

The most well-known feature is the ability of cloaking all radars in the universe including DSC. No space nations unable to compromise and capture it before vanish away. According to the CSE, the Optus Surcus' two latest appearance were at the edge the Terra Raphina's system and near the Meatson, as long as the widest points of the CSE's territory.

Beside its magnificant technology is the internal defences and trader's collaboration, allowing this valuable place to beat any upcoming enemies - both from the inside and outside.

Industry & Trade

All activities are tracked, logged, and encypted. You can take a picture of it whatever you want but you must not share the location or bring the army to here, or this place will start to jump away. Most encounters are raids and rarely the army. The confederation is unable to fully control the place even though they want so, only make trades.

Pirates can get in here as well but comes with heavy surveillance. They could let the pirate raids to them which can be easily avoided or beatable, but just in case - surviving for several thousands of years without fully compromised is pretty impressive.

Infrastructure

Optus Surcus provide accommodation and services needed to stay and stockpile - all come with fees. Plenty of stores, restaurants, and warehouses attract traders.

History

It's the mystery place unimaginable. Even the most advanced technology can't fully understand them. Was it a pirate hideout before? Was it the base by the former Ancient Earth Nations? Nobody knows.

Geography

Arriving on the starbase is the shiny, durable ball of steel planet - the artificial one for sure. The massive grid of landing pads is full of plenty of ships coming and leaving, like bustling people in the subways of metropolis.
