Caleah

Caleah was a forested region in Lisanrik, County Ellis, that was south of the cities of Feller's Rock and Silver Town. It was known for it's many Dwarven ruins that were destroyed from King Ebenwald Lysandus' reign.

Geography

Caleah is the southernmost area of County Ellis and west most area of Lisanrik, leaving it to be nearest to the Silver River and other lakes. It was normally filled with forest and occasional flat plains within them. Within the midst of the forests are three lakes: the Lake of Fey, Caleah Lake, and Gerewald Lake. Gerewald opens into the Silver River, while the other two come from smaller streams that run through the forest.   Between the woods were rocky hills that opened with plains on top of them. These hills were home to cliffs and dangerous rockwalls that would get avalanches. The hills thus remain untouched by humans, but were once used by dwarves for mines. They have been abandoned. The inhabitants are used to rainfall throughout the entire year. Flooding is rare but can take place in the forests and fields, while lighter showers are not unnatural in the summer. The rain is thought to have created the unique rock structures in the area, loosening the soil.

Fauna & Flora

The forest is mostly comprised of deciduous trees, like oak, birch, elm, elderberry, and aspen. The occasional pine or fur would be seen, but those trees are not natural to the region. They were a sign of Dwarven cultivation, since the pine trees are mostly Babashan cedars.   As for fauna, largely wolves, deer, elk, rabbits, wild sheep and bears can be seen in the region. Basic wildlife essentially. However, monsters have also been spotted before. Owlbears are the most common monster seen in the forests, but giant spiders are not an uncommon occurrence. Near the rocky hills in the midst of the forest, legend has it that harpies have been seen nesting and scouring for food. Near the Lake of Fey seems to lie some fey-like beings, and also the supposed home of the Lady of the Lake. It is a strikingly rich region for larger, more dangerous version of the natural wildlife to live.

Natural Resources

The forests have been a great place for lumber in the area when constant rainfall is common. Lumber industries intentionally cause trees to split into two trunks while taking up less root space to make woven wooden fences. Additionally, the lumber builds more tools and carpentry for the towns to continue growing.   The rocky hills were once spotted with Dwarven mines, where they would search for coal, silver, and sometimes gold. A certain mine, now lost, in south Caleah also had a source of adamantine. Eventually the mines were abandoned when Ebenwald Lysandus rooted out the Dwarves. The Dwarves took the locations and tools with them, leaving the mines to succumb to the elements.
