Silver Town

Silver Town was a small mining and industrial city found in County Ellis, Lysandus.
Silver Town is one of the oldest cities in Lysandus, being given over to human lords by the Dwarven King Furi during the reign of King Adran. -Jethro

Demographics

Silver Town has been a human settlement for over a century now, however it was once owned by dwarves. Humans dominate the population, but there is a large minority of dwarves who dwell in the city who never left. Besides this, beings like Elves and Halflings are present but not very common. Though tieflings and gnomes visit the city, none currently live there.

Government

Silver Town is overseen by a relatively weak Dragonlord noble, named Henry Foswell. He is the corresponding baron of the city who answers to the crown of Lysandus. He is also in charge of the guards and making sure the law of Lysandus is followed. However, his treasury and budget is small for the city. The real wealth and power is through the guild artisans, who control the city's money for the most part. They hold Lord Foswell in their grasp since he relies on their expenses to keep the city so well protected.

Defences

Silver Town is surrounded by a fairly large and thick wall, allowing it some external defense from raiding armies. Inside, there are a few small regiments of guards who enforce the laws. They have guard towers to watch any invaders. Catapults are found inside the walls for any external threats to try and attack them.

Industry & Trade

Silver Town gets most of it's money from silver mining and textile production. Using the Silver River, they gain woolen materials via raft from the north to create textiles and deliver them back up through carriage. The silver industry does a similar process with the carriages, but they mine and make their own silver in the city. Otherwise, the city has farms outside of it's walls to provide food.

Infrastructure

A wall surrounds the city, as well as watermills on the outside to power textile production. There are farms on the outside of the land. The city gates allow them to enter and exit as they please, and horse stables are available to rent. Many merchants have houses within the town as well, and trading outposts are not uncommon to find.   In the center of town is a mighty church, called the Temple of Amagus and Cardia. It is where the local inhabitants can worship their human gods and receive healing and other services. The head of the temple is Father Ealdfrig, a priest of Amagus.

Assets

Oh, Silver Town has many wonderful stores and shops! Come by and stop to see them! You can smell the Lazy Loafer Bakery's cakes from across town! -Jethro

The Lazy Loafer Bakery

The Lazy Loafer Bakery is a bakery found in the main city’s Lower Class District in Silver Town, which is right next to Dashlin’s Jewelry. It is owned by Frederick Bakerson and is a family business. He is joined by his only son, Barley, as well as Barley's wife, Isa. Bakerson has earned a reputation for his baking skills, being the personal choice for Lysandan artisans everywhere.

Morfir's Furnace

In the industrial district, this blacksmithy is available to shop from. It is owned by Gregory Morfir, a retired mercenary who hates thieves. He is joined by an apprentice. His smithy builds both weapons and armor, as Gregory trained most of his life in order to perfect both skills. He feels he gives reasonable prices.

Ashclaw's Remedies

A magical potion shop that can be found close to the castle, it is made of wood with some brick finishings. It is currently owned by Halamar Ashclaw, a human wizard. He sells potions of many sorts. Occassionally his black cat, Byrda, can be seen walking around the shop. Many of his potions are rather inexpensive for those who can afford them.

Gerbert's Wondrous Wands

A wand shop about a block away from Ashclaw’s Remedies, it is also a wooden building. The sign of the shop looks like it has taken a beating, mostly from burn damage. It is owned by a wizard Enchanter named Gerbert.
The beatings are because giddy wizards like using it for practice! -Jethro

Grace's Wonders

Grace's Wonders is a standard magic item store, with a portal that connects to Urshlon Tower and other mage buildings. It is right next to Gerbert's Wondrous Wands. It is a two-story building with nice furnishings on the outside. Grace herself seems to be relatively new in town, figuring out magic prices. She has quite an inventory however.

The Silver Chalice Inn

Ah, a personal favorite! They actually pay bards to preform here with rooms! Helped in my college days. -Jethro
The Silver Chalice Inn is the most visited inn to be found in the entire town. For good reason: it has fantastic service and good pricing for food. It is a two-story tall wooden building with a brick fireplace, and is very long on the side. It is very hard to miss; it is a building that took grey wood instead of the plain brown wood from the rest of the city.   It is currently owned by Laufre, a dwarf bartender. He claims to be a veteran of the Gothai Crusade, but is rather gentle and welcoming to visitors. He welcomes most into the inn, including off-duty guards and mercenaries. Even tieflings are allowed stay!

Dashlin's Jewelry

Dashlin’s Jewelry is a small brick building found somewhere in the middle of the main city, that has a very extravagant sign. It has brick roofing as well. It is about two stories tall. The bricks is to stop people from using destructive magic to break into his shop. It is owned by Edward Dashlin, a diplomatic and clever salesman who likes good bargains.

History

Silver Town was originally a small Dwarven mining village that had a connection to the Golden City for trade. It would become a popular economic center between Dwarves and Men. Eventually, it would become a place of interest for Aethel Ebenwald to take over. However, instead he opted to control the Silver River nearby. After his death, his son King Adran would negotiate with the Dwarven King of Bolderun to have control of the city. The Dwarven King would agree.   After the Dariahan Dragon Crisis, the hero Isendel Foswell would be granted the status of Dragonlord and began to own land near Silver Town. Sure enough, his house would take over the city through charters and negotiations from the Guild Masters. Now, his grandson Dragonlord Henry Foswell is the baron of Silver Town.
