#05: Bridge Over the River Ivlis
General Summary
Our Heroes awoke from their stay with the Vistani camp by the Tser Pools in mixed conditions: whilst Valentina Dilisnya slept wonderfully, evading any repurcussions from eating the "Dream Pretzel" given to her by Morgantha Ghita, neither Soryn d'Nemishcata nor Mina Barovonna were quite as lucky. Soryn had by far the worst of it, experiencing a terrible nightmare where she witnessed several now-haunting faces and a beheading-by-garrott.
The Heroes investigated the Forest Fane at the Tser Pools, and Soryn received a vision relating to Strahd von Zarovich seeming to dominate or in some way covet the stone itself, when the markings began to bleed. The markings were replicated — intentionally imperfectly — and recorded by the Heroes.
The Heroes then left a gift with the D'Lira Clan — the bottle of Martikov, 701 ME given to them by Strahd — before leaving and heading towards Solec. During the travels, Übel Bachmann once more intrusted Ireena Kolyanovich, though this reached a boiling point as they were crossing the Coldspray Bridge. Ireena stormed off, with Übel recognising she pushed the girl too far. Soryn and Valentina went to talk to her, and offered some words of comfort.
The conversation was interrupted by the arrival of a Dullahan, a headless horseman believed to be the same one referenced as a fated ally by Madam Eva's Fortunes of Ravenloft. The rider attacked the Heroes, and though they gave a good defense, his powers were clearly too much for them at this time, and they fled across the bridge. The rider appeared unable to travel far across running water — burning with every step — so the Heroes were able to get to safety on the other side.
The Heroes travelled on through the Ravenloft Moors, ever with Castle Ravenloft to their right, until they crested a hill and arrived in the fields of Solec. Here, they saw the mill Old Bonegrinder and theorised on the incredibly-vital-looking and large-grown crops, before stopping at the Shashlovich House, hoping to stay there for the night. They were greeted by Bella Ghita and Isnaf Mathais Shashlovich, and welcomed inside.
