Operation Sanctuary Task Force

The disproportionate response to the kidnapping of a senator

"Marshall's safety is top priority, am I understood?"   "Sir yes sir!"
-Admiral Wallace
Operation Sanctuary was the code name for the massive Federation Navy task force assigned to capture or destroy the 83rd Attack Group. Authorised by President Alfred Mantle after Senator Lando D.B Marshall was captured by said attack group.   The task force was spearheaded by the 3rd Sector Fleet, along with 5 other Federation Fleets (3rd, 5th, 10th, 14th, 15th) and part of the 19th and 31st Fleets. The task force was put under the direct command of Charlie Wallace, Admiral of the 3rd Sector Fleet. Other prominent leaders of the task force include Brian Layost, Val Morgan, Jordan Connolly, Vince Day, and Matt June. This combined force met in orbit over Idantith, the largest single collection of Federation Navy ships since the 2nd Galactical War.   The pure scale of the force assembled began a point of heated contention among both Federation officials and the media at large. A large group believed the total force overkill, and by extension that President Mantle would never sanction such a huge operation for a senator that was not of his own party. Whereas the other group believed the massing of ships essential to the survival of Federation sovereignty, to defeat a fleet that had previously evaded the Federation Navy before. Both groups debated furiously other the course of Operation Sanctuary's lifetime.   Eventually, Operation Sanctuary proved successful after Lieutenant Admiral Brian Layost of the 2nd Subsector Fleet, defeated the 83rd Attack Group in open battle. Marshall was found injured but alive, Admiral Celso Franceso was captured, and dozens of confidential intelligence documents were found thanks to Agent Elizabeth Pearce.
